Nevada HAND Inc is Hiring a Fundraising Events Manager Near Las Vegas, NV

Summary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Fundraising Events Manager will work closely with the Fundraising, Communications and Marketing, and Resident Services teams to develop and execute event-based fundraising strategies. This role involves leading Nevada HAND’s Emerging Leader’s Board, HAND Collaborative, and overseeing the creation and management of various fundraising events and campaigns. A significant part of this role will be organizing and leading the annual Neighborhood Block Party event, a major fundraising and community engagement initiative. 

Essential Functions and Work Duties:

The following essential functions of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with the supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.

Leading and Overseeing Fundraising Events and Nevada HAND's Annual Neighborhood Block Party:

As the Fundraising Events Manager, a central part of your role involves leading and overseeing key fundraising events, particularly Nevada HAND's signature annual Neighborhood Block Party. This high-profile event is the mainstay of our fundraising efforts and requires meticulous planning and execution.

  • Sponsorship Acquisition and Management: You will help identify and secure sponsorships from businesses and community organizations. This role will be negotiating sponsorship deals, maintaining relationships with sponsors, and ensuring sponsor recognition and benefits are delivered as promised.
  • Budget Management: Effective budget tracking and management are crucial. This role will be responsible for ensuring that all event expenses are tracked, and events remain within financial constraints while maximizing fundraising potential.
  • Event Logistics: You will handle all logistical aspects of the event, including venue selection, vendor management, catering, entertainment, permits, and security. Ensuring a smooth and successful event execution is key.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruiting, coordinating, and supervising volunteers for events is a critical task. You will ensure volunteers are well-informed, effectively utilized, and feel appreciated for their contributions.
  • Collaboration with Fundraising and Marketing/Communications Teams: Working closely with these teams is essential to ensure the success of fundraising events. This includes strategizing on fundraising targets, donor engagement activities during the event, and post-event follow-up strategies.
  • Marketing and Communications: You will collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to create a comprehensive promotional plan. This includes advertising, public relations, social media campaigns, and event materials to raise awareness and increase attendance and participation.
  • Post-Event Analysis and Reporting: After the event, you will conduct a thorough analysis to assess event success, gather feedback, and provide detailed reports on outcomes versus goals, including financial performance and attendee feedback.

Lead and Oversee HAND Collaborative: As the Fundraising Events Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all facets of the HAND Collaborative. This involves developing and implementing strategies to engage and recruit emerging leaders from various industries and backgrounds. The HAND Collaborative is a key initiative of Nevada HAND, aimed at bolstering awareness and advocacy efforts to amplify philanthropic support, thereby enhancing the organization's reach and impact across Southern Nevada.

  • Recruitment and Retention: Your role includes managing the recruitment and retention strategies for HAND Collaborative. This will involve identifying and attracting new members who can contribute to the organization's vision and goals.
  • Coordination and Management: You will organize and lead meetings, ensuring these gatherings are productive, and align with the broader objectives of Nevada HAND.
  • Budget Management: In collaboration with the Director of Fundraising, you will play a pivotal role in managing the operating budget for HAND Collaborative. This includes overseeing both revenue and expenditure to ensure financial efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Solicitation Strategy Leadership: A key responsibility will be leading the solicitation strategy within HAND Collaborative. This entails working closely with members to identify and tap into donors from their networks, thereby expanding the organization's reach and fundraising capabilities.
  • Address calls and email inquiries and/or route them to the appropriate department or executive.

  • Work closely and congenially with department staff, and establish relationships with associated nonprofit partners, donors and prospects, and various other community business and civic leaders. 
  • Exercise discretion and respect confidentiality regarding information gained about donors and prospects. 
  • Recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
  • Demonstrate ability to work flexible hours as necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
  • Access, operate, and maintain various software applications; ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files; ability to learn job-specific computer software applications.

Other Functions and Work Duties:

  • Perform additional duties as necessary for the overall operation.
  • Coordinate tasks with other department personnel and across departments to ensure smooth workflow.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Educational Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Professional Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in event management, preferably with a nonprofit organization. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent writing and editing abilities are essential, with a talent for converting complex ideas into clear, engaging, and donor-friendly language. 
  • Project Management: Robust project management skills, including meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and complete projects within deadlines.
  • CRM Expertise: Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is preferred, with a preference for proficiency in Raiser’s Edge/NXT.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stooping - frequently bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling - frequently bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees.
  • Reaching - frequently extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Handling - frequently seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  • Ability to transport files up to approximately 20 pounds.
  • Ability to lift files up to 20 pounds from the ground level to 4 feet in height and move them from shelf to shelf in storage.
  • Walking- moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
  • Regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse, and calculator while seated at a desk.
  • Able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
