Nevada Copper is Hiring a Surface Process Maintenance Supervisor Near Yerington, NV

Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.

Purpose of the Position:

The Surface Process Maintenance Supervisor will develop, implement, and administer all programs as it pertains to maintenance. The Surface Process Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for directing and controlling maintenance activities in support of construction, process plant, underground and surface operations.

Accountability:

The Surface Process Maintenance Supervisor will be reporting to the Process Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Direct responsibility for management of surface facilities and infrastructure maintenance and coordination of any contractors required to complete that objective.
  • Use available management tools to plan, schedule, and execute the work.
  • Adhere to best practices including lockout, tag-out and try-out prior to working on equipment as well as fall protection, hoisting, hot work, confined space entry and protective shields while welding
  • Direct responsibility for surface access, road maintenance and management of contractors doing the work
  • Responsibility for fixed maintenance and infrastructure improvement projects as assigned
  • Effectively communicate as the liaison between the Company and contractors
  • Demonstrate safety leadership by ensuring adherence to Company safety practices
  • Recognize and manage risks associated with day-to-day maintenance activities
  • Maintain a variety of site facilities; inspect for compliance with maintenance and safety standards; identify damaged or worn components, report and take corrective action
  • Promote a work environment that embraces discussion, change, innovation, and problem solving.
  • Develop a Preventative Predictive Maintenance Program.

  • General knowledge of health & safety and mining
  • Knowledge and experience developing policies and procedures for the organization
  • Advanced computer skills applying Microsoft Office

  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively with others
  • Capable and willing to train other operators to support competency training
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in team environment
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and communication skills with an ability to interact at all levels within the company

Knowledge/ Education:

  • Minimum 5 years surface maintenance experience
  • Prior supervisory experience with contractors, required
  • Experience with Fixed Plant Maintenance such as Crushers, Grinding Mills, Slurry Pumps, Filter Presses, Flotation
  • Solid working knowledge of surface mobile equipment, including light vehicles, trucks, excavators’, loaders, and auxiliary machines.
  • Strong understanding of cranes and other lifting equipment use and limitations.
  • Previous experience and/or supervision with mobile maintenance, road maintenance and project work
  • Prior industrial experience, preferred
  • Experience with U.S. Mining Regulatory Agencies
  • Ability to work well with others required including process operations, technical specialists, site operators, contractors, supply chain and other functions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of position required
  • A passion for innovative concepts that can transform the business

Physical Demands:

The incumbent must demonstrate the following physical demands:

  • Lift and potentially carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license
  • Climb stairwells and be capable of working on elevated platforms
  • Walk on uneven ground
  • Periodically work in adverse weather conditions
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Stay alert during periods of inactivity
  • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hand, and wrists.

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:

The incumbent works a minimum 40-hour week schedule, which may require weekend or evening work depending on organizational and operational requirements. Personal Protective Equipment required for this position, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots, as needed. All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
