Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Coding Specialist to join our team. As a Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes to patient records for billing and reimbursement purposes. Your expertise in ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and medical billing systems will be crucial in ensuring accurate and compliant coding practices. Must have prior experience with Neurosurgery/Spine coding.

Responsibilities:

- Review and analyze medical records to identify diagnoses, procedures, and services provided

- Assign appropriate ICD-10 codes to reflect the diagnoses and procedures documented in the medical records

- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements

- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and obtain additional information when necessary

- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry trends

- Assist with medical billing processes as needed

- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations

Experience:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Coding Specialist or similar role, Must have knowledge in Neurosurgery/Spine, Orthopedic, or Pain Management Coding.

- Proficiency in ICD-10 coding principles and guidelines

- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes

- Familiarity with medical office procedures, medical collections, and medical records management

- Experience working with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is preferred

- Familiarity with ICD-9 coding system is a plus

- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software

Requirements:

- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively

-eCW (E-ClinicalWorks) EMR knowledge prefered
