Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research and Development Engineer with expertise as an Equation of State (EOS) Specialist to join our dynamic R&D team. You will play a pivotal role in advancing our research initiatives. The successful candidate will bring extensive knowledge in EOS testing and modeling calibration under CO2 rich environment, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions of carbon capture and CO2 power cycle.

This role will sit in our Durham, NC office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct in-depth research on EOS research, including lab testing management and modeling calibration.
  • Design and implement experiments to study of EOS in CO2 rich environment under different operating conditions.
  • Update thermodynamic properties, transport properties and other properties values of the mixture for EOS modeling calibration.
  • Implement the calibrated EOS models into Aspen Plus process modeling. Collaborate with engineering teams to align research initiatives with overall project objectives.
  • Work closely with other specialists, researchers, and engineers to share insights and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of knowledge through publications, presentations, and internal training programs.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of at least 8 years in research and development roles, with a focus on EOS modeling and calibration.
  • Expertise in process simulation using Aspen Software, including knowledge of heat transfer, reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and process optimization.
  • Experience leading and managing complex R&D projects.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex research concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Work effectively in an office environment
  • Operate at a computer and sit for long periods of time
  • Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers
  • Position is sedentary with occasional light lifting
