Nestled in a wooded retreat on the north side of Lake Pontchartrain, we are just east of the causeway and 45 minutes from New Orleans. We provide long and short-term behavioral health care to adults and adolescents, and acute detox, and substance abuse care.

Position Summary: To provide transportation services to patients as needed to required appointments or as directed by Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
· During transports, provides supervision required by the patients due to their emotional and behavioral difficulties; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients during transports; to support the maintenance of a therapeutic environment during transports that is safe.
· Completes required documentation completely & timely including daily reports and incident reports; communicates incidents and patient or staff concerns immediately to the Supervisor; follows all state and federal regulatory requirements for the safety of patients; implementation of seclusion & restraint & JOINT accreditation requirements.
· Provides positive customer service to patients and their families & referral sources or outside providers, represents the organization in a professional and respectful manner when in the community.
· Must demonstrate sound judgment and exhibit positive decision-making skills always when working with patients; must be able to demonstrate ability to maintain composure & restrict emotional or reactive behaviors when confronted with physical or verbal attacks by patients; must demonstrate ability to maintain control of the patient at all times or seek assistance if needed.
· Must be professional in communication & actions with or toward other employees at all levels in the facility.
· Follows all driving requirements for safety; does not speed or engage in wreck less driving; follows all established protocols for seating and supervision of patients while driving or transporting patients; maintains visual contact with patients always. Maintains required vehicle logs and auto maintenance.
· All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience working with patients or in the health care field preferred. At least two (2) years transportation experience.
Licensure/Certificate:CPR and CPI preferred at hire or receive in orientation. Valid Louisiana Driver’s license with NBHS requirements and verification. Must have ability to drive safely with a clean driving record.
HIPAA:Has access to all PHI necessary to perform job functions and assuring compliance with standards of care.
Work Demands/Environment:
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and lift 50 pounds; ability to finger (e.g. pick, pinch, type) and grasp; ability to express and exchange ideas by spoken word in an accurate, audible, and occasionally quick manner. Ability to perceive sound with no less than a 40 db loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction and to make fine discriminations in sound; ability to perform substantially repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, and fingers; ability to perform substantially sedentary to light work, exerting between 10 to 20 pounds of force; ability to lift or move objects. Ability to accept instruction. Ability to get along with others. The worker is subject to some temperature changes but is largely protected from changing weather conditions.
