With a rapidly growing team of single-cell biologists, genome engineers and deep learning enthusiasts, backed by top-tier TechBio investors, Neptune Bio aims to efficiently engineer sustainable cell state transitions for complex phenotypes and disease. We combine massively scalable high-content single-cell screening and multimodal large language foundation models to identify the best therapies at scale, no matter the combinatorial complexity. Founded in 2023 by Drs. Rahul Satija, Harm Wessels, Yuhan Hao and Ben Van de Graaf, our stealth biotech is led by an excellent team of lead scientists in single-cell biology and method development, genome engineering, and experienced operations. The science behind these platforms has been published in leading journals including Cell, Nature Biotechnology and Nature Methods.

Position Summary

We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Computational Biologist Research Associate to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be involved in building advanced computational platforms and algorithms to analyze diverse single-cell perturbation and functional genomics data. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with both our computational and experimental teams, providing valuable insights into both model construction and experimental design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop state-of-the-art computational methods to process and analyze single-cell genomics data
  • Play a supporting role in pioneering new computational approaches and methodologies to advance the field of perturbation
  • Delve deep into diverse biological and genetic datasets, integrating data from various sources to build an integrated resource and draw novel and impactful insights
  • Stay up to date with the latest breakthroughs in computational biology, single-cell, and related domains
  • Work hand-in-hand with interdisciplinary teams, both experimental and computational, to aid in data analysis and interpretation across an array of research projects
  • Systematically document findings and present them, whether through written reports or oral presentations, ensuring seamless communication within the team

Qualification and Education Requirements

You must have:

  • A BS or MS degree in bioinformatics, computer science, biology, statistics, or a related field
  • Proven experience in analyzing genomic sequencing data
  • Robust programming abilities, especially in R, Python, and BASH
  • Hands-on experience working in a Linux-based environment
  • Solid understanding of code and scripting
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality code for team members
  • Innate curiosity and motivation, paired with the enthusiasm to flourish in a dynamic, team-driven, start-up atmosphere

Additional preferred experience includes:

  • Knowledge of functional genomics and genetic data
  • Practical experience in building a visualization portal for genomics data
  • Experience with integrative computational methods for omics data
  • Proficiency in modern cloud computing infrastructures
  • Expertise in deep learning frameworks, notably PyTorch
  • A distinguished academic background with an emphasis on deep learning and probabilistic modeling
