NemoursCareerSite is Hiring a Program & Policy Analyst I Near Washington, DC

I. Primary Functions 

The Program and Policy Analyst I (PPA I) resides within Nemours National Office of Policy and Prevention, Federal Affairs team. The PPA I will report to the Senior Advisor, Policy Development and Partnership and will be a core member of the team, providing support and project management assistance to advance Nemours Children’s mission of creating the healthiest generations of children. The Federal Affairs team pursues policy development and advocacy in numerous areas, including, but not limited to, pediatric value-based payment and delivery models, mental/behavioral health, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), population health/social drivers of health, health equity, and innovative financing models.

The PPA I will be responsible for substantively contributing to many policy deliverables , including but not limited to policy briefs, case studies, research reports, literature reviews, blogs, social media posts, videos, webinars, and others.

Additionally, the PPA I will fulfill a project management function on the team. With support from their manager, they will play an active role in ensuring that projects advance according to plan. The PPA I will also play an active role in project management and content development for the Whole Child Health Alliance, a coalition of stakeholders led by Nemours.

The PPA I will be part of a very collaborative, fast-paced team and must be comfortable working closely and cooperatively with team members to achieve common goals, advance new projects, and support the advocacy work of colleagues. The position is best suited to an individual who is a self-starter who is passionate about child health, flexible, strategic, collaborative, detail-oriented, organized, embraces learning and change, and enjoys writing and convening thought leaders.

II. Essential Functions

  1. Research: Performing research and supporting analysis and synthesis of child health policy issues, legislation, regulations, and other federal policies.
  2. Content Development, including:
    a. Writing: Supporting the development of various written deliverables including, but not limited to, literature reviews, position papers, policy briefs, articles, backgrounders, fact sheets, summaries, profiles, lessons learned documents, and memos. 
    b. Communications: Collaborating with communications team to assist with internal and external communications to summarize and promote the work of the National Office, including contributing to social media posts, newsletters, blog posts, and other communications and assisting with content creation to update the website and coordinate the publication process. 
    c. Presentation development: As needed, creating or updating presentations for a variety of audiences with support from supervisor. This could also include supporting the developing of video content.
  3. Meetings and Convenings: Assisting with the planning, organization and execution of meetings, briefings, conferences, events, webinars, and limited logistical support for the federal appropriations process.
  4. Project Management: Executing discrete project management tasks to ensure that projects move forward, and deadlines are met. While the PPA I may be responsible for project management tasks across their project portfolio, they will be specifically responsible for supporting project management for the Whole Child Health Alliance.
  5. Additional miscellaneous duties as assigned: Including administrative support.

III Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in public policy, public health, public administration or other related fields highly preferred.
