Neighborhood Center of West Volusia is Hiring a Thrift Store Manager Near De Land, FL

Job Purpose: The Thrift Store Manager is primarily responsible for supervising and leading the agency’s Thrift Store operations. This position manages employees and volunteers, product sales, merchandise donation, and promotion of the store in the external community.

Salary Range: Beginning at $37,000 per year, depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Store Management & Merchandising

  • Supervise the processing of donated items, including sorting, tagging, displaying, and disposing of items not in fair condition.
  • Plan the schedule of donation pickups and purchase deliveries and facilitate them, when necessary.
  • Manage the rotation of merchandise items and the creation of sales to promptly move inventory.
  • Operate point of sale, cash, and credit card tools, and train employees.
  • Observe and communicate sales and donation trends to recommend strategies that support revenue goals.
  • Assist with planning marketing strategies to increase donations and sales.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to promote the Thrift Store to the external community.

Staff Management

  • Collaborates and communicates with all employees and volunteers to ensure consistency in policy and procedures.
  • Facilitate ongoing training with employees and volunteers.
  • Review and approve employees’ biweekly timesheets; record and approve volunteer hour logs.

Financial Management

  • Professionally operates cash register and efficiently manages cash handling procedures, computes sales prices, totals purchases, and receives/processes cash or credit payment.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to create monthly and quarterly sales reports.

Leadership

  • Proactively seek out and participate in ongoing training to implement leadership, management, and operations best practices.
  • Identify goals and opportunities to increase the store’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications. Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Education:
    • Associate’s Degree preferred.
    • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required. Two years’ experience in an equivalent position may be substituted for education.
  • Experience:
    • Two years of retail/resale experience.
    • One year of retail management preferred.
  • Possess a Florida Driver’s License and eligibility to work in the United States
  • Skills:
    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
    • Effective written and oral communication with individuals and groups.
    • Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Cash register use, cash handling, computing sales prices, purchase totals, and processing credit card payments.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Abilities:
    • Stand for long periods, bend and lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
    • Flexibility to work individually and collaborate with teams.

General Job Performance Evaluation Standards

  • Understands and follow all agency policies and procedures as directed by personnel manual and guidance from the Chief Development Officer.
  • Performs all duties listed in job description.
  • Maintains strict client and staff confidentiality at all times.
  • Represents the agency in a professional manner consistent with the NHCWV mission.
  • Attends meetings as required including all mandatory staff meetings, any necessary emergency meetings, and staff training. Participates in required and elective staff development activities.
  • Maintains a safe environment for all staff members and clients.
  • Completes assigned tasks and associated paperwork in timely manner.
