Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team. As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects and providing detailed proposals to clients. Your expertise in construction management, project management, and cost control will be essential in ensuring the success of our projects.

Duties:

  • Organizes and schedules leads provided by office.
  • Evaluates provided project plans, if applicable, to gain a thorough understanding of the potential project for upcoming appointments and bidding.
  • Performs site visitswith potential clients and inspects the construction site to fully understand what work is required.
  • Sends potential clients follow up emails after each appointment and keeps open communication on plan/estimate turn around time.
  • Sends detailed bid requests to subcontractors and vendors with bid due date, scope of work, and attaches any necessary plans.
  • Obtains multiple quotes for each trade and selects the most suitable offer for estimating.
  • Negotiates as needed with subcontractors/vendors to ensure the best price is offered.
  • Manages, saves, and organizes bids/proposals from subcontractors and vendors for all estimates in designated estimating folder.
  • Prepares scope of work and detailed estimates for potential clients and reviews with owner prior to sending out.
  • Follows up with potential clients to review sent proposals and scope of work.
  • Makes necessary changes to proposal/scope of work per client meeting and resubmits for review.
  • Provides office manager with finalized scope of work/estimate, plans, and project timeline to put into contract form.
  • Provides office manager with all approved subcontractor bids to put into contract.
  • Provides office manager any specifications needed for permitting.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
  • Prepare detailed take-offs and quantity surveys for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Research and source pricing for materials and subcontractor services.
  • Develop comprehensive project proposals that outline the scope of work, timeline, and estimated costs.
  • Take measurements of spaces including but not limited to rooms, windows/doors, trim, Et al.
  • Review proposals with clients and negotiate pricing as needed.
  • Provide ongoing support to project managers during the construction phase.

Experience:

  • Proven experience and background in construction estimating.
  • Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
  • Excellent mathematical skills for accurate quantity take-offs and cost calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and subcontractors
