Needwood Golf Course is Hiring an Equipment Manager Near Derwood, MD

Needwood Golf Course located in Rockville, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a full-time Equipment Manager to manage the care and maintenance of the equipment fleet used to maintain the golf course and grounds. The Equipment Manager will report to the Needwood Superintendent and collaborate with the Equipment Program Director.

Essential duties and responsibilities of the Equipment Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Support a clean and safe work environment - Needwood is committed to a clean and safe workplace and the equipment manager plays a key role in achieving our workplace safety goals.
  • Manage an organized preventative maintenance program - Preventative maintenance is key to the longevity and overall performance of the equipment used at Needwood. The Equipment Manager will be provided with the tools necessary to track and document any and all maintenance performed on the equipment fleet.
  • Maintain equipment daily - Needwood is a high-volume operation, and it is critical that the equipment scheduled for use each day is in good working order.
  • Communicate frequently with the Golf Course Superintendent - The Golf Course Superintendent and Equipment Manager will work together to ensure the needs of the equipment fleet are being supported and addressed.
  • Assist the management team (Golf Course Superintendent and two Assistant Superintendents) in staff training and delegating assignments to the agronomy team.

Qualified applicants may possess any combination of education and experience enabling them to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.

Preferred qualifications are: High School Diploma or GED, technical training a plus experience if the field of equipment repair and maintenance, golf course experience preferred but not required. Candidates must also have the ability to multi-task with a high attention to detail with a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

A few notes on work environment: The workspace includes a climate controlled private office, parts room and reel grinding room. The main shop features two bays with lifts, ceiling crane, welding equipment, tool storage and radiant heat & ventilation. Equipment fleet is relatively new, well maintained and replaced regularly. The current Equipment Manager has been with the facility for seven years, is relocating out of state and will be available on site through the end of April.

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
