Organization Mission:

National Dance Institute of New Mexico is founded with the knowledge that the arts have a unique power to engage and motivate children. The purpose of our distinctive programs is to help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives.

Purpose of NDI New Mexico Instructor Role:

The NDI New Mexico Instructor is responsible for teaching classes and creating choreography for the programs they work within. The NDI New Mexico Instructor is responsible to their Program Artistic Director(s) for carrying out the mission and the policies of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Teaching and Choreography:

• At The Hiland Theater we are currently seeking teachers with experience and passion in working with children ages 3-12, versed in one or more of the following disciplines: ballet, jazz, modern/contemporary, tap, and hip-hop; we are also seeking hip-hop and breaking teachers for older students as well.
• Instructors prepare lesson plans for classes, and choreography for performances

General Artistic Duties:

• Attends all enrichment workshops and staff meetings as needed
• Follows NDI New Mexico program curriculum set by program director
• Provides program director with required materials and information as needed
• Supports performances by working backstage
• Subbing classes when available
• Other duties as needed and mutually agreed upon

Qualifications

Working Conditions, Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Requires weekend and evening hours
• Requires extensive physical movement, dance, high energy, and stamina
• In applicable programs (Outreach) performs functions in a variety of environments including: NDI New Mexico offices, schools, residency sites, and other locations
• In applicable programs (Outreach) may require reimbursable in-state travel to NDI New Mexico locations, participating schools, residency sites, and community events
