Communications Specialist II (Hybrid)

Who We Are & What We Do: 

The Environment & Development Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking a mid-level Communications Specialist II to support its six strategic initiatives for Sustainable Environmental Excellence: Materials Management, Natural Resources, Public Works, Regional Codes, Watershed Management, and Development Excellence. Description of the Opportunity: 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Creating and managing the content on the department YouTube channel and social media platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram). This requires a working knowledge of keyword research, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and boosting Facebook posts;
• Analyzing social media performance using Google Analytics, Facebook Business, Twitter Analytics, and Pinterest Analytics;
• Developing other creative elements such as logos, fliers, signage, advertising, social media content and infographics in coordination with planning staff;
• Creating animation explainer videos (using Vyond Studio) and natural resource-related visualization concepts for a variety of media including social media, PowerPoint presentations, meetings, etc., including, but not limited to script writing and coordination with planning staff;
• Editing webinar recordings;
• Providing customer service, presentations, and correspondence to the general public, partners, and stakeholders.

Desired Skills: 

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop);
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Detail oriented, organized, and ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines;
• Must be able to work independently and in a team environment;
• Must be a self-starter with an ability to adapt.

Required Education & Experience:

• Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree in: Communications, Film/TV/Digital Media, Graphic Design, Journalism, or related field;
• Over one year up to and including three-years related work experience.
