The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our Cumberland county Construction team.
In this role, you will:
Perform technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in construction inspection, surveying, and program/regulatory compliance.
Inspect for compliance/code.
Collect and analyze field data.
Perform materials testing.
Review and interpret design plans.
Analyze engineering-related/product data.
Serve as a survey crew member.
Assist with operating and maintaining equipment.
Perform stake outs, plot parameters, land and property searches, and plot information.
Perform entry level materials sampling, testing, and inspection.
Accurately maintain daily records of work accomplished.
What You Bring
Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
Customer service experience related to solving problems that involve explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
Ability to promote a safe working environment.
Knowledge and understanding of general concepts and practices used in highway construction and design.
Ability to conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard/codes, and specifications.
Ability to withstand extreme weather and terrain conditions while performing duties.
Ability to work in close proximity of high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and the public.
Math knowledge (Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry).
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
Ability to safely drive a state vehicle.
Education & Experience
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
