Job DescriptionAt NBCUniversal, digital accessibility isn't just a checkbox on a task sheet- we endeavor to bake it into our products while creating experiences that delight our customers and employees. In this role, you'll work closely with digital product organizations across NBCU on strategic projects and programs that build accessibility skill sets in teams and enable effective, sustained progress to be made in integrating accessibility as a core practice across all phases of the software development lifecycle. You will support the Senior Director of Accessibility in optimizing the centralized infrastructure, standards, and resources for businesses to utilize in their operational accessibility work.
The successful candidate will exhibit in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills with assistive technologies and accessibility principles. Critical to this role will be hands-on consultation with product teams, embedding accessibility best practices and user experience solutions in the Agile development process. You will also need to be a detail-oriented and effective communicator, capable of developing deep relationships and serving as a trusted advisor while driving critical initiatives forward.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage strategic accessibility programs for both customers and employees in a manner that drives maturity for digital accessibility across all NBCUniversal.
- Partner with NBCU PMOs and Compliance to institute best practices for governance, metrics, and program management of Accessibility and Disability inclusion.
- Determine cost and budget analysis; perform resource forecasting.
- Manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, and changes effectively by optimizing scope, schedule, and resources accordingly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to include digital accessibility in product and technical requirements.
- Maintain a working knowledge of established guidelines, including Section 508, WCAG 2.1, VPAT creation and ADA.
- Manage accessibility vendors to deliver high value services to NBCU digital product teams in design reviews, engineering code reviews, automated and manual testing for accessibility.
- Assist in providing accessibility subject matter guidance and mentorship for digital product team members.
- Support trials of new infrastructure designs/services and innovation in digital accessibility.
QualificationsBasic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent experience in Product Management, Business Administration, Project/Program Management, or a related field in a large matrixed organization
- Experience with accessibility standards and regulations like WCAG 2.1, Section 508, CVAA
- Enterprise bug tracking software experience- JIRA
- Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, writing, and interpreting)
- Comfortable in an Agile fast paced environment with significant time pressures, multi- tasking without loss of integrity or negative impact on schedules.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Proactive and strong sense of ownership
- Detail-orientated and self-starter
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and team members
