Summary

This position is located in the Recreation Department at the A.C. Read Golf Course Pro Shop, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. The function of the Recreation Department is to provide and maintain recreation and athletic facilities for active duty and retired military personnel and their dependents„ The primary purpose of this position is to sell merchandise and collect fees in the golf pro shop.

Duties

  • Employee shall be responsible for collecting the following fees from patrons using the golf course. Daily, monthly, annual greens fees -additionally, fees for electric, pull cart rental, golf club rental, and storage and locker rental services. All monies received shall be recorded into the cash register under assigned key and cash register receipt given to the patron. Cashier is responsible for all monthly tickets and inventory of same. Electric cart daily rental cards shall be recording the name of customer, cart number, and fees recorded. No cart will be rented for a second time until all carts have been rented for the first time.
  • Incumbent is responsible for the resale of golf clubs, bags, clothing and other miscellaneous items stocked in the pro shop. The resalable items shall have the price displayed thereon and items shall be recorded through assigned department key on the cash register. All items carrying a price of more than $10.00 shall be recorded through a sales slip signed by the customer.
  • Employee will be responsible for making refunds to patrons, accepting defective material and making special order for the customer. Special orders shall be on items not normally carried in the store and shall consist of special shoes, oversize grips, extra Stiff golf club shafts, under or over the normal degree of cut on the loft of the golf club, the roll and bulge of the club from open face to closed face, etc.
  • All items received in the pro shop for resale shall be checked in and signed for. Salesclerk/cashier will check items against the pink copy of the purchase order. All items will be under a stock control system. A standard control card of all retail price, how many on hand, on order, nomenclature of item as to description color, size and design if any.
  • All monies received will be recorded on the cash register and employee will be responsible for the change fund and all monies deposited on the cash register. Additionally, he/she is responsible for balancing out the cash register and preparing the Recreation Department Daily Activity reports when used by the central cashier for information forwarded to centralized accounting section.
  • May be assigned other duties and responsibilities related to the operation of the pro shop.

Qualifications

  • Education: Employee should have a high school education.
  • Experience: Must possess a working knowledge of golf pro shop and be familiar with the various types of professional golf equipment in order to service the customer.
  • General: Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time, have a pleasing personality and be very diplomatic in customer relations. Must be neat in appearance.
