The Development Associate position is part-time (approximately 20 hours/week).

Natural Lands, a vibrant, regional, nonprofit organization and leader in land conservation, natural resource stewardship, and public engagement, seeks a Development Associate to join our team at our headquarters on the Hildacy Preserve in Media, Pennsylvania.

Since the early 1950s, Natural Lands has saved open space, cared for nature, and connected people to the outdoors in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Today, the organization is one of the nation’s largest regional land conservancies and is widely respected for its record of success, technical expertise, respectful and creative approach to partnerships, fiscal strength, and integrity.

Over the course of its nearly 70-year history, Natural Lands has helped preserve more than 135,000 acres including a network of 42 nature preserves and one public garden across two states and 13 counties. These properties total 23,000 acres and include many of the most spectacular and diverse properties in the region, which are enjoyed by more than 300,000 visitors annually.

Job Summary:

The Development Associate provides gift entry and general database support for Natural Lands’ fast paced and highly motivated Development Department. As an integral team member, the Development Associate provides exceptional internal customer service and ensures the timely and accurate management of donor records in support of donor and prospect stewardship and the overall advancement of donor relations.

  • One to three years of experience with data entry, preferably in a fundraising setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer services skills.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment.
  • Affinity for learning about and assisting with fundraising and relationship advancement that are core to a development department's functioning.
  • Proficiency in word processing and computer databases; ability to learn specific digital communication and database software and to analyze and utilize database information; experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or similar fund-raising software preferred.
  • Interest in conservation, the outdoors, and Natural Lands’ mission along with a desire to forge relationships that support that mission.
  • Excellent organizational skills, penchant for thoroughness, and attention to detail.

    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

    This is primarily a remote position with the possibility of intermittent days in the main office at Hildacy Preserve. This is an office-based position, requiring frequent standing for long periods, sitting, with occasional periods of walking, bending, and reaching. The position requires use of the computer and the telephone. A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license are required for travel throughout the region (eastern PA and southern NJ) for meetings, events, and project-related tasks.
