Job Overview:

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) will focus on treating infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents who have a variety of developmental, physical, and cognitive impairments. The OTR will utilize specialized therapeutic techniques designed to enhance children’s abilities to perform daily activities and reach their developmental milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations of clients' functional abilities and challenges using standardized tools and informal assessments.
  • Plan Development: Develop individualized treatment plans that specify goals, intervention activities, and expected outcomes for each client.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Implement therapeutic interventions that promote clients’ motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, and cognitive functions.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, educators, and families to ensure a holistic approach to each child's care.
  • Family and Caregiver Education: Educate family members and caregivers on various aspects of care and interventions to ensure consistency and support at home.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and evaluations in compliance with professional standards and regulations.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing education and training to stay abreast of the latest developments in pediatric occupational therapy.

Qualifications:

  • OTR (Required)
  • DC or/ and MD License (Required)
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in pediatric assessment tools and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to engage children and families with patience and creativity.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
