Primary Purpose of the Position:

As part of NPCA’s growing strategic partnerships program, this role connects top national corporations and brands across several industries with national park protection. NPCA works with its partners to support sustainability and environmental initiatives through partnership activations and to educate, engage and empower consumers to become involved in NPCA’s mission and national park protection efforts. In addition to raising revenue for NPCA, this program also works to increase NPCA’s brand relevancy and visibility through the development and execution of partnership marketing campaigns and activations.

This position will support the stewardship and execution of NPCA’s strategic partnerships to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations and partner needs, serving as a strategist, executor of marketing deliverables and relationship manager for these relationships. Partnerships and related strategies and activations vary from cause marketing promotions, programmatic support, marketing campaigns and activations, thought leadership, events and more. Additionally, the role will be involved in the growth of NPCA’s strategic partnerships program by supporting prospecting strategies and tactics, as well as working to grow revenue within existing partnerships

This position should have a marketing and social impact background with a proven track record of development and execution of marketing strategies and deliverables, as well as relationship building and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. An effective candidate will be a proactive, forward-thinking, creative and strategic self-starter who thrives in a client-service work environment and can balance a multitude of priorities across partnership stewardship and execution.

Essential Functions:% of Time

1. Includes but is not limited to the development and execution of partnership marketing and communications strategies and related contract deliverables – from the development of social media content to editorial calendars and marketing strategies to direct-to-member communications (e.g., blog posts), nationwide event coordination and execution, cause marketing promotions and more. Continuously strategize and implement innovative approaches to partner stewardship including support of contract renewal planning. Track and report impact metrics related to partnerships. Serve as day-to-day account lead on select partnerships. 65%

2. Responsibilities include supporting the team through the development and implementation of new partnership marketing strategies, activations, resources and assets. Brainstorm and contribute creative, innovative ideas and marketing opportunities to increase visibility of and ROI for both NPCA and partners. Support the development of prospecting strategies, including new partnership marketing initiatives and campaigns, sales/new business materials and more. 25%

3. Responsibilities include the development of partnership toolkits, internal and external reports and program materials; project management and deliverable tracking for existing partners; and more. 10%

Other:

Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the corporate partnerships and cause marketing industry, corporate social responsibility and corporate sustainability, nonprofit marketing and corporate support for environment and conservation. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of NPCA programs and work with program and field staff to understand and support programmatic work.

Relate confidently to colleagues throughout the organization including executive leadership and department heads and those external to the organization including board members. Participate in organization-wide meetings, staff committee meetings and attend other meetings as designated by the team.

Manage other corporate partnerships and cause marketing special projects as assigned.

Participates in administrative staff meetings, organization-wide meetings, staff committee meetings, training programs, and attends other meetings and seminars as designated by the supervisor. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Minimum Work Schedule: Flexible. Core office hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. Some nights and weekends may be required.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Approximately 15-20% time.

Minimum Scope of Position: This position requires highly effective marketing and project management skills and ability to work with all levels of NPCA staff, both in the Washington, DC office and regional offices.

Minimum Qualifications, Competencies, Skills, Education, and Traits:

  • Four-year undergraduate degree; ideally in business discipline such as marketing, communications; or related field
  • Minimum four years of experience in marketing and/or social impact (nonprofit strategic partnerships, corporate social responsibility, PR agency experience, etc.)
  • Experience demonstrating extreme attention to detail and the ability to multi-task, switch gears and prioritize as required while anticipating and meeting deadlines and partner needs in a client-service environment
  • Dynamic, creative, outgoing strategic thinker; collaborative in nature and a team player
  • Results-driven self-starter and a solution-oriented proactive forward-thinker
  • Experience working with corporate representatives and executives in marketing, corporate social responsibility, and/or sustainability roles
  • Excellent verbal, listening and writing skills
  • Excellent skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word and others as required
  • Demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and orientations. Contributes to the creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages and celebrates differences.
