National Indian Council On Aging is Hiring a Community Engagement Specialist Near Albuquerque, NM

Position Title: Community Engagement Specialist

Reports to: Project Coordinator

Position Description:

This position will assist in enhancing our education and outreach efforts across communication channels. The goal of the organization is to advocate for improved health, social services, and economic wellbeing for American Indian and Alaska Native Elders.

The role of the Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for fostering positive interactions, program development, and enhancing NICOA’s reputation across Indian Country.

Primary Duties

Project Management:

  • Proactively identify, develop, manage, and maintain a strong, robust pipeline of growth opportunities that strengthen and enhance current NICOA programs.
  • Research and partner with staff on the creation of communications for new programs, including outreach to internal and external communities of interest.
  • Assist program managers with the preparation and delivery of information at internal and external events such as seminars, conferences and focus groups.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of programs and their activities.

Communications Marketing:

  • Serve as the primary representative of NICOA communications for public information, and external communication with stakeholders, community members, and visitors regarding organization updates, community participation, and other activities and outreach.
  • Lead existing branding vision for NICOA to reach and engage a wide population with targeted regional and local advertising, website content, and digital/social media.
  • Manage daily social media, content creation, graphic design, website updates/maintenance, event media, and community gatherings.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain contact lists for organization partners and community-based organizations to support engagement and awareness activities.
  • Review current procedures to verify they are accurate and assist with writing new procedures.
  • Coordinate membership focused on gathering input and feedback from internal and external customers and business partners.
  • Designs and implements a comprehensive plan for membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data, membership trends, and other pertinent information relevant to designated geographic areas.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with all viable Native and Aging Network entities.
  • Update and maintain media library for ongoing organization use.
  • Research and data entry as required to meet goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, web design software, Canva, Constant Contact.
  • Proficiency with Content Management Systems such as WordPress.
  • Strong internet research skills.
  • Efficient and effective in working independently and with groups. Employ a collaborative team approach to the completion of all assignments.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with American Indian, Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian communities.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • The noise level is moderate.
  • Very limited exposure to physical risk or very limited physical effort required.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Lifting items 50 lbs. or less.
  • Bending or stooping occasionally.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
