POSITION TITLE: Instructional Designer I, International Center for Regulatory Scholars (ICRS)

STATUS: Full time / Exempt

LOCATION:Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid: 2 days/week on-site, 3 days/week remote)

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a talented instructional designer to join our International Center for Regulatory Scholars (ICRS) team. The ideal candidate will bring value to the team by utilizing their knowledge of adult learning theories to design and develop ICRS courses throughout the entire course development cycle (analysis, development, design, implementation, evaluations).

Reporting to the Manager, Course Development & Technology, ICRS, the Instructional Designer I will be interacting with growing eLearning team dedicated to further nursing regulation education. The Instructional Designer will use their expertise to guide course development while working alongside a Development team that includes nursing regulation subject matter expertsand eLearning Developers.

This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual dedicated to applying their knowledge adult learning theories, instructional design models, and curriculum development, while working for an organization committed to advancing nursing regulation and policy worldwide!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews and uses content to design engaging learning activities and interactivity that enhances the learning process.
  • Assists the design and development teams during the course planning process to develop and implement the High-Level Design Document (HLDD).
  • Works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify target audience’s learning needs and facilitates SME content creation.
  • Assists the project leader to identify, analyze, and modify existing courses using instructional design best practices.
  • Develops modes of assessment, such as quizzes or tests, to measure course effectiveness. 
  • Provides copyediting and technical quality assurance for courses and related eLearning systems.
  • Provides analysis regarding course efficacy during the evaluation stage of the course life cycle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, eLearning, a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and expertise.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design models, and curriculum development.
  • 2 years’ experience in an area of eLearning technology implementation.
  • Experience working with course authoring tools (Articulate Suite, Rise, Storyline) and Learning Management Systems (LMS); Canvas preferred.
  • Proven ability to write effective copy, instructional text, storyboards, and audio/video scripts.
  • Ability to create visual assets using graphic and video design tools (Adobe Suite, Camtasia, Vyond).
  • Computer skills required: Windows-general; E-email-intermediate/advanced; Excel-general; Word fundamentals; Graphics software-intermediate; SharePoint-general, preferred.
