We are searching for an experienced Research & Data Manager, Development Office at our 63rd St Operations facility.

FLSA Classification: Exempt/Salaried
FTE: 100% (40 hrs/week)
Compensation: $55,000 - $64,706

Job Summary
The Research & Data Manager, Development Office is responsible for the day-to-day processing of gift and data-entry, and the identification of potential donor prospects in need of further qualification and cultivation. This position works closely with the finance office, prepares weekly and monthly financial reports, and serves as the project lead for Raiser’s Edge, our development software database. This position is responsible for the creation of current, robust donor profiles, supports fundraising and communications campaigns, and development office and alumnx office events.
This position will be in the office three days a week, and the schedule is flexible.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as the project lead for Raiser’s Edge; ensure completion and accuracy of constituent database records by updating and capturing contact, biographical, and career information via surveys, projects, events, correspondence, website, postal returns, etc.
  • Ensure donor intentions are honored, gifts are processed accurately and in timely manner, accurate daily reports are generated, and data entry conforms to all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), IRS regulations, and Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) guidelines.
  • Manages the development of departmental gifts reports and maintains timely dissemination of reports
  • Assists in identifying potential new prospects or donors in need of further cultivation through data analysis.
  • Create current, robust donor profiles for prospects and donors adhering to Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) best practices and professional guidelines.
  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy, as well as handle all global changes, imports, exports, and other comprehensive database functions.
  • Perform research on specific prospects as assigned by senior administration, staff colleagues, and/or volunteers.
  • Analyze and validate information gained through individual research and prospect screening vendor services.
  • Continuously monitor emerging opportunities and develop in-house prospect research resources including internet: data mining, research, database, and electronic services.
  • Communicate gift information in a timely and efficient manner with the Finance office and participate in reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate daily gift acknowledgement letters, weekly volunteer stewardship reports, weekly gift reports, and monthly departmental stewardship reports to the appropriate departments.
  • Supports communication to Alumnx through email campaigns and other projects.
  • Supports Extended Campus to highlight their communications and opportunities. (we have not been doing this, but if we need to we can include it)
  • Management and execution of development and alumnx events when requested, including venue identification, submissions of internal departmental requests, creation and monitoring of event budgets, and event follow-up.
  • Create donor agreement forms for scholarships, major or multi-year donations, in-kind donations, and others.
  • Submits monthly budget reports for the Development office.
  • Create letter templates for acknowledging the different forms of gifts.
  • Ensures that all tax documents are sent, processed, and reported as needed.

Educational requirement:
  • High school diploma or GED.
Minimum length of prior applicable professional experience required:
  • 5-7 years of database management experience.
  • Previous experience with development or financial office management.

Other Experience, Knowledge, Skills, or Competencies Requirements?
  • Experience working in an office environment, preferably in a college/university, large nonprofit organization, and/or similar complex setting.
  • Proficient in data entry and experience with donor/gift management software.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams.
  • Proven abilities to operate and maximize functionality of a CRM (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge NXT, etc.) with database management, analysis and reporting experience.
  • Possess a creative, innovative, persistent and resourceful approach in researching and seeking out additional sources of appropriate information on potential donors – individuals, corporations, and foundations – to build the best possible list of donor prospects.
  • Possess exceptional time management, project management, and organization skills with a highly developed attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated initiative and follow-through with enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communication skills including an ability to communicate effectively on the telephone, in person, virtually online, and in writing.
  • Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including effective listening, emotional intelligence, and political acumen to build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, discretion, and sensitivity regarding all University business and, most importantly, personal information pertaining to each and every constituent.
  • Must embody the essential personal and professional qualities of the University’s mission, vision, values, and purpose statements.

A comprehensive benefits package is available to full-time employees who work a minimum of 30 hours each week.
