The Associate Director, Instrument Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring the successful manufacture of all products required to support customers, both internal and external. The role includes oversight of process performance, inventory management, production planning, and budget development and administration. Development of staff and strategies for successful achievement of department and company goals is of paramount importance. Cross-functional collaboration with a broad range of internal stakeholders is critical to success.Essential Functions:
* Lead and direct a team of Supervisors and individual contributors to achieve efficient and high-quality production, ensuring effective use of process, people, materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
* Work closely with Quality groups to ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and requirements of company QMS
* Provide direction, supervision, and guidance to ensure alignment with quality policy, strategic objectives, and organization goals that drive achievement of product availability according to customer needs
* Lead a cross-functional, integrated team to develop strategy and tactical deployment of Manufacturing activities
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and champion operational excellence goals and initiatives
* Work cross-functionally with all departments and leaders impacted by Manufacturing activities, and including Supply Chain, IT, Sales and Marketing, Development, Instrument Calibration Services (ICS) Operations Technology & Engineering (OTE)

* Assist with the development of long-term plans for product life-cycle management, cost reduction, and continuous improvement
* Report status of projects to senior leadership and provide relevant data and KPIs
* Prepare documentation, reports and standard operating procedures as required
* Maintain budget and approve expenditures and hiring for department
* Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies, procedures and programs
* Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Instrument Manufacturing function
Target Base Salary Range:
$125K-$175K
Base salary is an integral part of NanoString's total compensation package. Base salary considers an individual's skills, experience, and competitive market value. The base salary range represent what NanoString pays for a job within a salary grade based on external market data in comparison to similar positions from other companies in our industry. Employees generally enter a salary grade at the lower-to-mid-point in the range.
Other compensation elements include a discretionary annual bonus, incentive compensation for sales roles, Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grants for all new hires, comprehensive benefit plans and paid time off, including designated holidays
