LINE COOK

Starting Pay: $17.50/hour, Performance Progression to $17.75/hr–$18/hr

About the role: 

As a Line Cook, you will support our Restaurant Kitchen Leaders to drive culinary excellence in our scratch-based kitchens. With a genuine love for cooking delicious food, you will work to master every Naked Farmer station by consistently executing recipes, processes, and procedures. Our Restaurant Team and Chefs look to you to serve as a vital resource on culinary & all things food. You will take initiative as a subject matter expert in the kitchen by participating in pre- shifts, knowing recipes, answering culinary questions and will be held accountable to ensuring tasks within the kitchen operation are completed on time and to standard.

YOU WILL:

  • Elevate and motivate our team by modeling culinary expertise while having a great attitude.
  • Execute each station by following station diagrams, pars & station prep pars to ensure consistency.
  • Demonstrate mastery of every station by consistently executing all seasonal menu offerings according to the recipes, procedures, and standards.
  • Manage prep lists, waste logs and participate in food inventory while staying in close contact with your leadership to ensure your walk-in is fully stocked and organized.
  • Assist CDC & Sous Chefs with maintaining appropriate pars needed for service.
  • Successfully open and close your station using the checklists and thorough communication with the previous days leaders to best prepare for a steady shift.
  • Ensure the kitchen operations are following Department of Health and Naked Farmer food safety standards.
  • The ability to perform physical requirements of the position (frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds). These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Have a Food Safety Certification.
  • Showcase excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in wherever necessary.
  • A desire for growth in our expanding organization

YOU HAVE:

  • An exceptional work ethic and a commitment to Naked Farmer’s mission and values. 
  • A knack for multitasking and the ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
  • The ability to follow instructions based on established procedures.
  • You have the ability to work on your feet most of the day and lift up to 50lbs. 
  • The knowledge to operate all necessary equipment, from food heating/cooling machinery to the restaurant telephone. 
  • At least one year of cooking experience
  • An understanding of how to receive, store, cook and serve safe food while maintaining a clean station in accordance with the health department standards.

We build seasonal recipes based on what’s growing in our region and know farmers on a first-name basis. We wore born in the global pandemic, pivoting the entire company to get fresh food from farm to door at a time when real food was flying off the shelves at the grocery store. Since then, we’ve built a culture of resilience, and transparency through our open book management, profit-sharing plans, and dedication to telling the story behind the farmers who grow our local food supply. Our mission is to build a better food system, one locally sourced meal at a time.
