Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Network/Communications Engineer to be responsible in the implementation and configuration of networking hardware and software for the USMC Base Area Network Modernization project at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. This role is critical for managing the expansion of the existing PON infrastructure and the installation of a new voice system. The Senior Network/Communications Engineer will collaborate with the Site PM, and other technical engineers and the Lead Systems Engineers to execute accepted solutions with new and existing clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support verification site surveys at government installations on the East coast of the United States in order to identify and document the current network infrastructure installed to ensure the technical solution meets the customer requirement 
• Support the Lead Systems Engineer in implementing the technical solutions for new and existing clients 
• Provide feedback to the Lead Systems Engineer on improvements to the technical solutions being implemented 
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventory and documentation for network infrastructure installations 
• Configuration of network routing and switching equipment 
• Understanding of networking technologies, topologies, and protocols. (TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, VLANs, Ethernet) knowledge of GPON is a plus 
• Hands-on experience in implementing, operating and troubleshooting IP-based Data networks (LAN/WAN/MAN) using Cisco IOS 
• Highly self-motivated and ability to work independently in a global team environment 
• Exceptional analytical skills, able to apply knowledge and experience in decision-making to arrive at creative and commercial solutions 
• Strong desire to learn and contribute solutions and ideas to a broad team 
• Independent and comfortable in a fast paced, ambiguous and often multi-directional work environments 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor degree in a Technology related field preferred
• 10 years experience in telecommunications and networking experience. 
• 10 years experience delivering solutions to government clients.
• Cisco CCNA, CCNP Certification is desired.

Military Installation Access: This position resides on a military installation. Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to qualify for and obtain a base access pass. Must be able to obtain a favorable National Security Agency Check (NACI) including a FBI fingerprint check.

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.Mus

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally lift and/or move parts up to 40lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move parts up to 50lbs.
• Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for the majority of working hours.
• Occasionally bend, stretch, twist, or reaching overhead when reaching out or moving items.
• Occasionally use arms, hands, and fingers to grasp, moving of items.
