Mylan Park, nestled in the vibrant community of Morgantown, WV, is a hub of over 350 acres of diverse recreation, social, health, and wellness facilities. In collaboration with WVU, we offer an array of indoor and outdoor activities through Intramural, Club Sports, and NCAA Big 12 Collegiate Athletic programs. This partnership prioritizes extensive field spaces and sophisticated facilities, setting the stage for dynamic and enriching summer camp programs.

As the Director of Summer Camp at Mylan Park, you will oversee the seamless execution of a 10-week afternoon summer camp program, ensuring they are educational, engaging, and safe for all participants. This role is perfect for a leader passionate about youth development and skilled in managing programs and people.

Core Responsibilities:

• Program Development: Design and implement comprehensive summer camp programs that are both fun and educational, catering to various age groups and interests.
• Staff Management: Recruit, train, and oversee camp counselors and support staff, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver exceptional programming and care.
• Operational Oversight: Manage the camp's day-to-day operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and maintenance of camp facilities and equipment.
• Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict safety guidelines and protocols, conduct regular safety drills, and maintain all necessary certifications and training for staff.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, providing regular updates and responding to inquiries professionally and tactfully.
• Financial Management: Oversee camp budget, manage camp fee collection, and ensure financial activities such as purchasing and payroll are conducted accurately and timely.
• Community Relations: Foster strong relationships within the community and with partners to enhance the camp’s profile and success.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in education, recreation management, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Extensive experience in camp management or youth programming, with proven leadership and supervisory skills.
• Certifications: A current American Red Cross CPR/AED/FA certification is required; additional lifeguarding, first aid, and BLF certifications are highly desirable.
• Skills:
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in using software systems for program management.

Human Relations:

• Internal Contacts: Interact with staff at all levels within Mylan Park.
• External Contacts: Engage with parents, community members, and external vendors.

Work Environment:

• Location: Responsibilities are carried out in both indoor and outdoor settings within Mylan Park, including but not limited to community centers and athletic complexes.
• Conditions: The role involves standing, walking, lifting medium-weight equipment, and exposure to various weather conditions.
