General Responsibility:

The Performing Arts Supervisor is responsible for supervising the theater program, dance and music specialty areas. The Performing Arts Supervisor will provide support to the performing arts areas and lead activities of their own. They will work as a production manager for the camp play, organizing the collaboration between dance, music, and theater activity counselors as well as collaborating with their team on all activity lesson plans. The Performing Arts Supervisor will work in partnership with the program team, and will report to the Director of Administration, Business, and Operations. This position is an “in-residence” position, requiring them to live onsite during employment. Dates for the summer are May 29 – August 4, with flexibility for time off based on other projects the employee may be committed to.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or certification in or extensive knowledge of performing arts
  • Desire and willingness to engage with children
  • Ability and willingness to accept supervision and guidance
  • Ability to problem solve and be flexible as schedule changes, weather challenges and other issues arise
  • Experience working with children ages 6-16 in a recreational setting.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Capacity to work with a broad range of people
  • Strong abilities both to collaborate with a team and work autonomously

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Attend Head Staff and General Staff Orientation, May 29-June 15, 2024
  • Responsible for the supervision of the Music, Dance, and Theater Activity Counselors
  • Reviews and approves the planning of daily activity programs done by Music, Dance, and Theater Activity Counselors
  • Responsible for maintaining upkeep of performing arts program supplies and locations
  • Work as a production manager for the camp play, organizing the collaboration between dance, music and theatre specialists
  • Create a production calendar and rehearsal schedules for the camp play
  • Collaborate with Music, Dance, and Theater activity counselors with planning and executing all performing arts chugim
  • Assists the programming team in supply runs throughout the week
  • Assists the programming team in set up and breakdown of programs, including but not limited to unit programs, staff programs, and signature events
  • Be punctual to all programs and meetings
  • Be responsible for the proper use of equipment and supplies
  • Cooperate with Camp leadership in matters involving rules, safety, & programming
  • Set a good example in all areas of camp life; act as a role model
  • Be a positive, contributing member of the camp team

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Set a good example for campers including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing cleanup and chores, and sportsmanship
  • Follow camp rules and regulations
  • Keep a clean and tidy cabin and living space
  • Complete duties as assigned.
  • Attend all staff meetings as directed.
  • Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities
  • Manage personal time off in accordance with camp policy.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Compensation

  • $4,000 - $6,000 depending on experience

Physical Qualifications:

While performing duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to obtain ACT 33/34 and FBI clearances and mandated reporter training.
