Full job description
Job Summary:
The Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Drafter works under the close supervision of the Engineering Supervisor, preparing technical and mechanical drawings showing the detail and method of assembly of a wide variety of electrical equipment, mechanical devices and the manufacture of electrical enclosures using SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, AutoCAD.
Duties:
- Prepare technical drawings in 2D and 3D and resolve associated mechanical and fabrication problems. Sheet metal flat layout experience is required.
- May participate in designing special modifications to existing designs or parts.
- Determine design elements, such as the numbers and kinds of fasteners needed to assemble the machine.
- Perform a modeling, drafting, or Engineering Change Order (ECO) process with minimum errors.
- Prepare drawings showing the detail and method of assembly of a wide variety of switchgear/switchboards, electrical enclosures, and mechanical devices, indicating dimensions, fastening methods, welding methods, and other requirements
- Perform cost analysis based on manufacturing capability and design quality
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or an associate degree in drafting or the completion of a technical school drafting program or a combination of education and equivalent experience using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) systems, SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD.
- 2–5-year experience using CADD systems.
- Knowledge of traditional drafting techniques, and mechanical drafting
- Ability to use tables, calculators, and computers
- Proficient in using a computer including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of drafting standards, mathematics, science, and engineering technology
- Capable of successfully working on multiple projects concurrently while adhering to deadline schedules
