Are you a compassionate, motivated educator looking to impact young students' lives in your community positively? Join our team of dedicated early childhood professionals!
We seek experienced and caring Part-time Early Childhood Assistant Teachers to oversee our curriculum programming. You will collaborate with our assistant teachers to prepare children for school academically and socially by using age-appropriate lesson plans, selecting effective developmental materials for the classroom, and utilizing positive behavior reinforcement. You'll also need to provide parents with regular reports on their child's progress.

The Early Childhood Teacher, under the supervision of the Early Childhood Director or the Assistant Director, is responsible for developing and implementing a developmentally based educational program for an assigned class of school children. The curriculum must meet the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social needs of the individual child and the group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • UPLIFT EACH OTHER WITHIN OUR MFA FAMILY.
  • Greets each child in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Interacts with the children and encourages their involvement in activities.
  • Provides a warm, safe, and caring environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing.
  • The environment should allow the child to grow and explore.
  • Plans, prepares, and implements daily activities (indoor/outdoor) related to the curriculum (circle time, Pledge of Allegiance, rotations, etc.)
  • Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of the children.
  • Provides overall supervision of toileting and bathroom time.
  • Oversees all mealtime/snack time activities and related record keeping and leads children in MFA meal prayer.
  • Maintains daily attendance records.
  • Maintains ongoing developmental records for each child, including keeping records of all developing skills (physical, social, emotional, and cognitive).
  • Responsible for the children's assessments.
  • Keeps a “portfolio” of each child's progress, including photographs, artwork samples, writing, etc.
  • Maintains excellent communication with parents daily through using LifeCubby, notes, or verbally.
  • Works with other staff members to form a supportive team atmosphere.
  • Ensures confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures, including agency safety requirements.
  • Must work the days and hours to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks, be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to attendance standards and work deadlines.
  • Maintains clean the classroom and bathroom. Cleaning duties include sweeping, vacuuming, disinfecting toys and common areas, and stuck chairs.
  • Performs additional program duties as assigned by the Director according to agency needs.
  • Maintain annual training requirements to fulfill DCF, NECPA (National Early Childhood Program.

Accreditation) and MFA In-Service continuing education hours. Periodic Duties

  • Attends all Early Childhood staff meetings (Exact meeting dates and times TBA).
  • Attends all supervisory meetings, team planning meetings, and curriculum meetings the Early Childhood Director schedules.
  • Participates in Parent Orientation Night and Parent/Child Open House before school, Fall Festival, and all the special activities related to the classroom, curriculum, and school.
  • Maintains all required reports about the class and individual children. This includes progress reports quarterly in October, December, March & May.
  • Prepares and conducts Parent/Teacher Conference, as necessary.
  • Attends workshops, conferences, & any in-service training sponsored by the Early Childhood Center, as approved and instructed by the Early Childhood Director.
  • Submit a written lesson plan weekly to the Early Childhood Director for approval.

Minimum Position Requirements

  • DCF 45 hours of training (Child Care Facility Part I, Part II, Early Literacy, Safe Sleep, and Transportation Safety). Safe Sleep first 30 days of employment, the remainder of the courses within nine months.
  • Child Development Associate Credential (CCP/CDA) (Preferred).
  • Proven experience in childcare/ teaching (Required).
  • Ability to effectively interact and relate to children developmentally appropriately.
  • Must be sensitive to individual children's differences and needs and be willing to adjust the program & curriculum to meet those unique needs.
  • Must be motivated to learn and grow in an educational environment and be willing to increase knowledge in Early Childhood Education continually.
  • Must relate with and speak to parents respectfully and courteously.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment; be willing to share ideas & be open to others' views; be flexible & willing to compromise.

Special Requirements and Physical Demands:

  • Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed, to lift children (up to 75 lbs.), including bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing and pulling, and sitting and walking multiple times daily.
  • Noise level can be moderate to loud.
  • You must always be in MFA uniform per the uniform policy as stated in your employee handbook.
  • Complete the National Background Check Program for Florida and any out-of-state background checks

Responsible for maintaining cheerful, courteous, and professional relationships with the following:
1. Children in the Early Childhood Program.
2. Families of the children enrolled in the program
3. All Early Childhood Staff, including other teachers, administrative staff & Director.
4. Professional staff from other related agencies.
5. The greater community.
