ABOUT THE ROLE

MVB’s Fintech Banking business has grown significantly over the past five years. Fintech Banking has become a key driver of deposits and fee income to MVB Bank. Total Fintech Banking program deposits now exceed $2.4 billion through dozens of client and partner relationships.

The SVP, Head of Payments is tasked with providing strong leadership for MVB Bank’s FinTech Banking team. The department has re-focused its near-term strategy around growing existing key partnerships rather than adding additional ones. Existing key partners include some of the world’s largest payments providers. The role includes oversight of the bank’s FinTech account management and client delivery teams client and partner implementations, and partner and network relationships (Visa, MasterCard, acquiring and issuing processors). The Head of Payments provides strong leadership of merchant acquiring and card issuing sponsorship relationships, and non-card FinTech payments business lines for the bank (ex., ACH, RTP, Wire) is paramount. The SVP will work very closely with the bank’s Chief Operations and Digital Officer, Chief Information Officer, Chief FinTech Risk & AML Officer, Chief Risk Officer, President & CEO, and other bank leaders and their team members. The leader in this role will have extensive knowledge of merchant acquiring and card issuing business lines, and sufficient knowledge of non-card payments, including, ACH, RTP, and Wire.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Oversight of the Fintech Banking account management and client delivery teams providing day-to-day support for existing FinTech clients and partners.
• Ensure Fintech Banking is providing high-touch service to its sponsored partners in the areas of card acquiring, issuing, Visa Direct/MC Send, RTP, ACH, and Wire.
• Oversee P&L, revenue and/or deposit growth goals for existing clients and partners.
• Direct and lead a team of individuals working within the assigned business verticals, including day-to-day oversight, team member goal-setting, and bi-annual employee reviews.
• Partner with the bank’s Chief Operations and Digital Officer, Chief Information Officer, Chief FinTech Risk & AML Officer, Chief Risk Officer, President & CEO, and other bank leaders and their team members to deliver on the Company’s strategic goals related to Payments.
• Lead or assist in negotiating complex FinTech partner contract extensions and/or terminations.
• Oversee development of policies and procedures related to the business line.
• Ensure the development of performance metrics, alignment, tracking and follow up for the FinTech organization.
• Lead the launch of new products/services, if/when needed.
• Drive overall operational excellence initiatives for Fintech Payments at MVB, including participation in company-wide initiatives related to Operational Excellence.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 years of demonstrated experience is required, and an Advanced degree is preferred. Prior experience managing Fintech companies preferred.
• Experience working with large global payments providers.
• Significant experience in card acquiring, card issuing, specifically, through employment with another sponsor bank(s) or t card brands.
• Knowledgeable of banking products including account types and uses by FinTech and payments companies.
• Financial and operational knowledge, as well as knowledge of banking and payments regulations, policy and procedures that affect the company.
• Understanding of launching and managing a sponsored program and
• banking operations/Treasury experience with higher-risk clients and FBO accounts.
• Consensus builder and ability to work with Risk and support functions.
• Excellent listener for building expertise as a consultative team
• Expert problem solver to develop solutions for client needs.
• Ability to attract, develop and retain top talent.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire people to action through their influence.
• Basic or in depth understanding of blockchain and digital gaming business lines a strong plus.
• Experience managing regulatory relationships or working in a highly regulated environment is a plus.
