Qualifications:

  • Must be fully licensed/certified Social Worker

Social Work duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide supportive, diagnostic and consultative service to students, teachers, administrators and parents/guardians/families of students with social, emotional and academic difficulties.
  • Complete and present a written evaluation report to parents/guardians and the local educational agency within required timelines.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of preventative mental health methods/techniques/programs based upon student needs and present level of performance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of measurable IEP goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate, in conjunction with the LEA staff, the development of positive behavior interventions and behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide staff development and parent/guardian training.
  • Have experience working with preschool through high school students.
  • Ability to manage a caseload in multiple buildings.
  • Participate in IEPT, Evaluation team and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Consult with other personnel including teachers, principals, other ancillary staff and parent/guardian to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate records, reports and procedures including, but not limited to, lesson plans, behavioral data and student progress on IEP goals/objectives.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of positive behavior supports
  • Design and implement multi-faceted behavior interventions
  • Understand the behavioral characteristics typically associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Impairments, Behavior Disorders, Traumatic Brain Injury, Intellectual Disabilities, etc.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with parents and professionals
  • Understand and works with the various support systems available in the community
  • Understand Special Education regulations including the seclusion and restraint policy
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to train others to apply effective behavior management techniques
  • Possesses a basic understanding of educational curriculum and instructional methods
  • Others as assigned
