Museum of Flight Foundation is Hiring an Associate Facilities Technician Near Seattle, WA

Summary

The Associate Facilities Technician supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by overseeing the activities and security of the Museum’s main loading docks located on the north and south end of the Museum main campus. This position provides and monitors access to the South Loading Dock area, providing excellent customer service to our vendors, clients, and employees. Oversite of relevant shipping and receiving, delivery of internal packages, as well as incoming and outgoing Museum mail are a significant part of daily tasks. This person is charged with keeping workspaces clean and safe for all users. This position will also maintain organization and relevant supplies of staff copier room and breakroom.

Additionally, this person assists other facilities staff in providing support for events and projects and will work with the Facilities Lead to assess the needs of all south and north loading dock activities. Success in this position will include efficient and professional communication through various mediums including handheld radio, phone, email, in-person, and through activity logs and our ticketing system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organize, clean, and maintain loading docks, adjacent dock office spaces, and related areas on a regular basis including parking lots, dock ramps, adjacent sidewalks, trash and recycle containers, and smoker urns.
  • Monitor and control access into south dock areas especially during heavy use, events, construction, or other instances of high-volume dock use.
  • Distribute packages and supplies as needed to all departments.
  • Process and assist with the distribution of incoming and outgoing USPS mail and packages.
  • Monitor inventory and stock breakroom consumable supplies such as coffee, paper towels, and utensils.
  • Monitor inventory, stock, clean, and maintain main staff copy room as needed.
  • Work with the Facilities Lead to access the needs of all loading dock activities, as well as short- and long- term projects.
  • Assist other facilities staff with routine checks and basic maintenance to related dock equipment as directed.
  • Provide support when necessary for both private and public events including but not limited to setup and breakdown.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of previous related work experience with a minimum of one (1) year in a facilities environment.
  • Experience working in a shipping & receiving role is highly preferred.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of safety and security practices, procedures, and regulations concerning the proper use of equipment and materials including knowledge of OSHA and WISHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of various chemicals and materials used in facility maintenance, including but not limited to cleaners, lubricants, sealers, paints, patching compounds, paving, and construction materials.

Skills

  • Effective time management skills; prioritization and organizational skills in a diverse body of work.
  • Good interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills; customer service and client driven with a focus on problem solving.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite.

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability in prioritizing and completing multiple projects while being flexible in a changing diverse and team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, to diverse populations.
  • Adaptive and able to pivot in a frequently changing work environment, manager competing tasks and work to improve processes.

License & Certification

  • Drivers’ License with an acceptable driving record is preferred
  • Able to fulfill in-house certification in the operation of lift equipment that include fork and scissor lifts.

  • The schedule for this position will be determined by the Supervisor.
  • May require working additional hours including evenings and weekends based on Museum need.
  • No travel is expected for this position.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • The ability to bend, carry, reach to the side, front and overhead, push, pull, focus, walk, stand, twist and squat are often requirements for this position.
  • Requires the ability to operate various motorized and non-motorized lifting equipment.
  • Exposure to objects and chemicals that require strict adherence to safety guidelines.
  • This position also works in an office environment with long sedentary periods and repetitive wrist and arm movement
  • Must be able to be physically active for the duration of a shift.
  • Onsite attendance is essential to perform the duties of this position.

Paid-Time Off

Our paid time-off plans include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave and 2 weeks of vacation (80 hours each) per year, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $20.00 to $27.00 depending on experience.
