Procedure: The job description and responsibilities are defined for Infusion Nurse at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic below: Job Title Infusion Nurse Job Description The Infusion Nurse ensures safe patient care during the infusion process, completes all preoperative orders, identifies specific patient needs, and educates the patient and patient’s family. The Infusion Nurse also obtains, mixes, and administers intravenous medications. Infusion Nurse must adhere to all policies and procedures of MMC and meet the needs of patient in a teamwork approach. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting and involves frequent telephone contact, as well as face-to-face communication with patients. Interactions with others in constant and interruptive. There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice. Varied activities including walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients and sitting for extended periods of time may occur. Also, occasional stress from multiple responsibilities. Job Responsibilities · Represent MMC in a courteous and professional manner · Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate patient service · Be at your workstation on time and prepared to start the day · Email communication is utilized in this department for important messages and updates. Staff members are expected to read emails frequently. · Keep clinic and exam rooms clean and sanitized · Record accurate data in nurse notes · Reports physical findings or changes to physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant · Assures that charts are complete and reports irregularities to appropriate personnel · Assists in emergency situations · Assures that all pre-op orders and procedures are performed · Administers pre-op medications as ordered, assists, or completes venipunctures · Maintains equipment and supplies · Assists with education and in-service education with new personnel · Responsible for receiving, mixing, and dispensing intravenous medication · Monitor vitals · Sterilize equipment and supplies · Relieves personnel as needed or required · Maintain current CPR and ACLS license · Maintains good health, personality, and has satisfactory hearing and eyesight · Able to handle stressful situations for short periods of time and stand for several hours · Uses good body mechanics and able to lift 50-60 pounds · Promotes open communication with family and healthcare professionals regarding care of the patient · Assists with transfer of patients · Abides by employee handbook with regard to sick time, vacation, and holidays as well as dress code · Sterilize and clean equipment after use · Utilize computer to schedule appointments and procedures · Utilize the Electronic Medical Record for all patient interactions and communication · Be knowledgeable and adhere to OSHA guidelines and MMC policies and procedures · With instruction, perform other duties as required or assigned · Able to work forty (40) hours per week and overtime as deemed necessary by the supervisor Required Skills · Meet or exceed patient, doctor, and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approach · Asses patient’s vital signs and start patient IV · Answer patient and family inquiries · Education of patient/family member about infusion services and pre/post treatment · Stock linen cabinet each morning and as needed throughout the day · Excellent customer service skills · Strong skills in communicating (verbally and written) effectively with co-workers, providers, and patients · Ability to conduct daily functions in an appropriate, professional, and compassionate manner · Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient and timely manner · Teamwork attitude · Flexibility to respond to changing demands · Ability to react calmly and competently in stressful situations · Effectively utilize computer systems and programs that are necessary to complete daily tasks Education/Experience Requirements -Current TN Registered Nurse License -Previous nursing experience with patient care and IV skills MMC Vision, Mission, and Values Our vision is to be a leading contributor to community health through participation in programs that promote wellness, facilitate diagnosis, and enhance treatment of disease.
