Munson is Hiring an Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment Near Utica, NY

Munson is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment. This is a full time, on-site position, located in Utica, NY.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment is responsible for the overall operations of the Pratt Munson admissions office to ensure the annual admission goal of 110-125 first-year students is met annually.

The Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment reports to the Pratt Munson College of Art and Design Dean and works in concert with the Pratt Institute (Brooklyn) VP for Enrollment Management and the Director of Admissions in the development and implementation of all aspects of a strategic recruitment plan and enrollment services.

In addition, the Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment is a direct liaison with international students and serves as a Designated School Official (DSO). The position also includes the supervision and training of two admissions counselors. The position requires occasional travel and weekend and evening work, as needed for recruitment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment is responsible for the overall operation of the Pratt Munson Admissions Office. This includes supervising the admissions staff to ensure annual admission goals are met, developing creative recruitment strategies for admissions, enrollment and retention while working in close collaboration with Pratt Institute.

Recruitment/Admissions

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the overall recruitment strategy under the supervision of the Dean and in close coordination with Pratt Institute’s Director of Admissions and Vice President for Enrollment Management.
  • Build and maintain a close working relationship between the recruitment staff across both campuses;
  • In coordination with Pratt Institute’s Admissions Office, organize and participate in off-campus recruitment events such as national and regional portfolio days, high school visits, college fairs, etc.;
  • Maintain databases and produce reports to track prospect, applicant, and enrollment yields. Monitor progress toward enrollment goals for first-time, transfer, and international students;
  • Serve as a primary contact for all high schools and organizations. Maintain a database of key schools, contact information, and enrollment history;
  • Author communications and manage the communication flow for prospects and applications received, processed, and forwarded by the Brooklyn campus and provide supplemental reviews and assessments of applications materials as needed;
  • Maintain knowledge of Pratt Munson academic and extracurricular offerings, financial aid, faculty and staff, and student activities, as well as Munson Museum of Art and Performing Arts events to provide prospective students an overview of the entire Munson organization;
  • Organize and participate in on-campus and virtual recruitment events such as information sessions, campus tours, relocation trip, and Admitted Students Day;
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the office, including departmental budget.;
  • Evaluate the success of recruitment events, adjusting as needed to ensure ROI from outreach efforts;
  • Manage the application process for the summer pre-college program (when applicable); and
  • Serve on Munson interdivisional committees, Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in admissions and enrollment in higher education, and other duties as required.

Enrollment Marketing

In partnership with the Director of Marketing and Communications at Munson and in close collaboration with the Director of Enrollment Marketing at Pratt Institute, provide an array of enrollment marketing services. These include:

  • Develop creative admissions campaigns for distribution across the Pratt Munson website, social media, email marketing, and publications;
  • Working with the Munson Marketing Communications team, oversee the development, publication, and distribution of admissions marketing materials;
  • Work with IT, Marketing and Communications, and other stakeholders to ensure that the Pratt Munson website maintains accurate, updated, and relevant information, photography, videography, and graphics; and
  • Hire professional photographers and organize yearly photo shoots of student work and campus life to maintain up-to-date files for publications and external assessment needs.

International

  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for SEVIS;
  • Assist the Office of International Affairs at Pratt Institute with completing the student I-20 process; and
  • Advise international students on immigration status in coordination with the Office of International Affairs at Pratt Institute;

Supervisory

  • Recruit, train, and supervise admissions counselors (2) and student workers.
  • Provide on-going assessment and annual performance appraisals for counselors.

Organizational Service
The Associate Director will serve on Munson intra-departmental committees, participate in Munson/Pratt Munson community events, attend Pratt Munson events, represent Pratt Munson in the community, and complete other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience
The Associate Director of Admission and Enrollment, Pratt Munson College of Art and Design will:

  • Be an experienced professional with a record of successful, motivational administrative achievements in an accredited college or similar setting (3 years of program/department leadership experience preferred);
  • Be a team leader who motivates and creates a positive and effective work environment;
  • Be experienced, strategic and thoughtful in addressing recruitment, enrollment, retention, and related admissions issues, policies, and processes;
  • Possess strong fiscal management capabilities for all aspects of the departmental budget, and managerial acumen to see projects through to completion with attention to detail and respectful of deadlines; and
  • Be a superior communicator with interpersonal skills that reflect clarity of expression and effectiveness in working with diverse groups in a complex organizational setting within a College of Art and Design.

Job qualifications

  • BA or BFA, with an MA or MFA preferred
  • 3 years of related professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Supervisory experience and demonstrable leadership skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends in admissions and enrollment
  • Ability to work with diverse student body
  • Willingness to work evening and weekend hours during active admission season
  • Experience with CRM systems (Slate)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-hire background check

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment at Pratt Munson College of Art and Design has direct supervisory responsibilities for hiring, termination, performance appraisals and performance counseling.

Working Environment and Hours:

The Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment will regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, sit, and may lift and carry materials for intermittent periods of time throughout the day. Significant portions of daily assignments involve the application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity. Work regularly requires and/or varies between morning, afternoon, evening and/or weekend assignments.

Compensation

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Salary Range $58,548 to $63,548
