Job description summary:
Our organization is seeking a highly skilled distribution manager. This manager is responsible for all warehouse operations, including assembly, production cells, shipping/receiving, kitting, and various ISO elements. The manager will also be responsible for planning, organizing, controlling schedules, and assigning employees tasks to perform.
Essential duties & responsibilities:

- Drive company culture and focus on fact-based management practices
- Supervise and direct all department activity to achieve stated performance goals including safety, quality, and on-time delivery
- Responsible for employees understanding their role within the company and how it relates to the company’s mission
- Responsible for personnel activities, including appropriate staffing and disciplinary actions
- Focus on building teamwork within primary department and with other departments
- Establish attainable and stretch goals for department employees (performance management)
- Review customer requirements and ensure products are accurately assembled and shipped on schedule
- Be the authority on ISO Elements 9 and 15
- Promote and administer safety awareness on a daily basis
- Ensure that all accidents or injuries are investigated in a timely manner and reports are complete
- Expedite paperwork as required
- Direct inventory control activities
- Ensure accurate counting and processing of incoming and outgoing materials and documents
- Help monitor Kanban replenishment system
- Effectively able to present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Monitor and respond to all internal and external customer complaints
- Prepare various reports for the operations manager
- Stimulate maximum efficiency and productivity from employees
- Negotiate inbound and outbound freight rates
- Establish accountable goals for the assistant assembly, receiving, warehouse, and other distribution managers
- Ensure smooth flow of work between warehouse departments
- Maintain a close relationship with other departments
- Communicate to the operations manager any problems with company service, divisions, or customers
- A persuasive speaker, to both peers and superiors; have natural charisma
Experience & skills:
- Prefer completion of two (2) years undergraduate degree study and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in distribution management, or a minimum of three (3) years of distribution experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous lead or supervisory experience would be a plus
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Capable of creating change across functional and departmental boundaries
- Able to make recommendations and effectively participate in the implementation of company policies and procedures
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
- Flexibility to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignments
- Ability to work well with others
- Formally trained in the principles and methodology of lean enterprise; Lean Implementer Certification preferred
- Experience in developing department budgets and monitoring budget performance
- Constantly strive to meet or exceed company goals
- Champion of continuous improvement efforts
- Work with manufacturing and material managers to eliminate stock outages and minimize back orders
- Develop transportation procedures with carriers
- Perform other duties as assigned by the operations manager
- Light travel may be required
