Shift: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with Hybrid option available

Summary:Responsible for mechanical design of MULTIVAC standard line of “Systems” automation equipment and related components for the food, pharmaceutical, and consumer industries.  
Time Utilization:This position willtravel up to 5% of the time.Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned: 
  • Independently design and engineer newly configured forms of our standard line of automation equipment either as stand-alone items or part of larger automation lines to be supplied to the food, pharmaceutical, and consumer industries.
  • Create engineering CAD models and drawings for customized automation components.These are parts, subassemblies or full assemblies pertaining to the modules associated with loading, unloading, conveying, channelizing, carton loading, etc.
  • Analyze project descriptions as presented by parent and daughter company order cards, project diagrams, packaging specifications, line concept drawings and related order information to verify feasibility and identify all necessary configurations for new components and/or assemblies to initiate and complete design/engineering process.
  • Take part in new design work within our team developing newly designed pieces of equipment as required to further our line of offerings.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and contribute towards achieving departmental on-time delivery goals.
  • Utilize and adapt MULTIVAC tools along with standard methods and processes to solve issues and create designs to meet customer requirements and specifications. Actively navigate, identify, and abide by MULTIVAC design standards and guidelines.
  • Work closely with German colleagues associated with joint projects, worldwide, taking part in weekly project reviews and communications as needed.
  • Utilize the following programs for daily work: SolidWorks, Keytech, and SAP and Confluence.
  • Occasionally provide engineering and technical support services to other departments relating to the evaluation of components and assemblies, analyzing mechanical machine issues, and machine configuration support.
  • Collaborate with Engineering team for review process of design, BOM structure and line layout confirmation.Contribute towards achieving departmental quality goals.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical field. Previous experience in mechanical design and/or packaging industry preferred. 
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures, engineering drawings, safety standards, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers or associates of the organization.  
Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of 3D modeling and 2D drafting, drawing data bases, ERP software, and Microsoft Office products. 
Certificates and Licenses: Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position. 
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
