Summary: Consistent with the Aquatics mission, the mission of Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP) and under the direction of the Aquatics Director, and the the Aquatics Coordinator, the Head Lifeguard will be responsible for the training, planning, implementation, and supervision of aquatics staff such as on-deck management of Lifeguard staff as well as on-deck support for swim team and swim lessons.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This individual must have skills necessary to develop and carry out a wide variety of aquatic programs, meeting the needs of people of all ages, demographics and ability levels. S/he must have a high level of organization to successfully manage on-deck the aquatics facility, and the ability to build and manage a team of aquatics professionals. S/he must have the ability to positively impact the quality of this service area with a high standard of care, and attention to details while acting as the front-line customer service team member for programming conducted by properly guided and motivated staff. S/he must ensure that all staff meet Muletown Rec Aquatic Standards and philosophy, incorporating a values component, all in a safe, supportive environment. This position requires an individual with the ability to remain alert, with no lapses in concentration; to sit for extended periods, including in an elevated chair; to move to various locations, including in and around an elevated chair; to communicate verbally, projecting voice across distances. S/he should be able to hear noises and see distress signals. S/he must be able to communicate swiftly and effectively with emergency personnel over the telephone and in person. S/he must have the ability and knowledge to work with hazardous chemicals such as chlorine, Muriatic/hydrochloric acid, soda ash, chemical reagents, disinfectants, virucidal solutions, and other cleaning agents. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, required.
Physical Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; see; talk or hear; taste or smell. S/he must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. S/he may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. S/he must be able to walk and stand in an indoor or outdoor environment for extended periods of time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
