GET TO KNOW THE ROLE

The Financial Controller is responsible for the overall direction, administration, and coordination of all activities within the finance operations division in accordance with Tribal policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP) and Gaming Commission regulations. Supervises and manages, either directly or indirectly all team members of the finance operations division (includes, but not limited to accounts payable and general ledger).

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Be the face of MCR for new hires and team members; exemplify MCR’s values and set a great example by always demonstrating excellent guest service and professionalism.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, administration, and coordination of all activities of the finance operations division in accordance with tribal policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and manage, either directly or indirectly, all team members of the finance operations division (which currently includes, accounts payable, general ledger, and cost control).
  • Ensure that accounting systems and records are in compliance with approved policies and internal control procedures, generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP), and gaming commission regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, annual budgets, and subsequent budget updates.
  • Coordinate the design, implementation, and monitoring of the manual and computerized finance operations reporting systems.
  • Review reports prepared for the regulatory agencies.
  • Arrange and coordinates the annual external financial statement audit and in regulatory audits of non-gaming, and as needed, gaming departments.
  • Review insurance claims and policies to determine adequate protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Establish and reviews accounting and auditing procedures as necessary, including revisions to internal controls for the finance operations division.
  • Facilitate the flow of information by organizing and directing regularly scheduled meetings with all finance operations managers.
  • Oversee cash flow management and investment decisions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in accounting required.
  • Seven (7) years of senior management accounting experience required.
  • Experience must include a full range of accounting functions including preparation and review of financial statements, budgets, accounting policies, and internal controls.
  • Current CPA Certificate a plus!
  • Gaming experience a plus!

HOW YOU’LL BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Knowledge and skills in accounting; fixed assets; budgeting; financial computer systems; internal controls procedures; and financial reporting.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced complex mathematical, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-volume, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal. Read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced GL System and Excel skills.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Availability – Ability to work different shifts, holidays, weekends, and nights to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Physical – Ability to maneuver in all areas of the casino, ascent/descent from stairs, frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and/or prolonged periods focusing on tasks. Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. May regularly need to lift/ move, push, or pull up material or boxes necessary to the job function, with or without assistance.
  • Environment – Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) while working and traversing on the gaming floor.
