Component Technologies Specialist

We are looking for a Component Technologies Specialist to join our elite Quality Improvement Manufacturing team at our US Headquarters.

This role shall assist in the management and execution of technical projects to support assembly and test of electronic modules or components. This role is critical to the incoming component quality and product function.

Micro Systems Engineering’s manufacturing line is a critical element in a global manufacturing enterprise collaborating on the attainment of highly reliable medical devices. The position requires a candidate with critical thinking skills, robust communication skills, keen safety awareness, high attention to detail, and awareness of process and product technologies in the electronics field.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and drive technical projects within the area of focus to completion with minimal guidance from engineering partners.
  • Execute testing to support ongoing production and development work.
  • Perform data analysis and provide path forward recommendations.
  • Release documentation to support projects and ongoing improvement activities.
  • Work with cross functional team to meet development goals.
  • Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate data to provide analysis of component performance.
  • Assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing or quality inspection process.
  • Work with engineers in conducting experiments or development work.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues with limited direction.
  • Generate documentation and follow MSEI’s change management system to support projects.
  • Display ownership, lead projects and act as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in their area.
  • Multitask and control multiple stations simultaneously.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Shall have an Associate’s degree or higher education in a technical discipline or 5 years relevant industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field, particularly Electrical Engineering, preferred.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Shall be able to work independently and troubleshoot complex issues in functional area of expertise.
  • Basic knowledge of SMT processes and assembly defects preferred.
  • Very familiar using MS Excel including experience with formulas and pivot tables.
  • Strong critical thinking skills required; the candidate shall be able to effectively learn on the job.
  • Shall be able to describe and accurately communicate problems or issues.
  • Shall be able to work with others and provide training as needed.
  • Normally receive no instructions on routine work and general instruction on new work.
  • Adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Function as trainer/ leader in areas of expertise.
  • Extremely high attention to detail is required; very low level of mistakes or escapes.
  • May lead peer groups and assist cross-functional projects/teams.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cleanroom gowning required for all work in environmentally controlled areas.
  • Shall be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Shall be able to perform fine work under microscope ex. soldering, cleaning, inspection, underfill dispensing through small needle, etc.
  • Shall be able to work day shift.
  • Job may require overtime and weekends in accordance with business needs.
