ROLE PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY

Plans, purchases and procures raw materials used at the manufacturing facility against the customer requirements. Communicates changes in production status and vendor issues to the customer. Manages and maintains relationships with key vendors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyzes customer production forecasts. Purchases and procures raw materials to meet customer demands, ensuring appropriate inventory levels and savings targets are met and expediting as needed
• Utilizes Nulogy system to determine replenishment levels needed for customer accounts and orders raw materials accordingly, determining the appropriate amount of materials necessary to meet current and forecasted production levels.
• Releases raw materials into production against customer requirements.
• Communicates production delays and vendor issues to customer and decides best course of action to address the issue and meet customer demands.
• Tracks supply markets, meets with key vendors to evaluate supplies, and presents changes / recommendations to customers.
• Addresses issues with raw materials with vendors, including quality, quantity, scheduling, etc.
• Meets with vendor sales representatives to evaluate supplies and make suggestions for changes and cost savings to customers.
• Investigates and resolves inventory discrepancies for assigned customers.
• Identifies root cause and corrective action for any unavailable or aging materials.
• Manages freight claims for damaged materials.
• Manages vendor returns for materials that do not meet specifications or other quality standards.
• Performs all confirmations in customer’s ERP system to properly report inventory transactions.
• Develops, implements, and maintains departmental reporting as required by manager or customer utilizing Nulogy system or Excel developed worksheets.
• Coordinates outbound freight.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/ CAPABILITY PROFILE

Minimum Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

• High school diploma required
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related discipline desired
• APICS certification desired
• LEAN/Six Sigma certification desired
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, such as Nulogy and SAP
• Strong customer service skills, including ability to instill confidence and display integrity
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Minimum Experience

• One (1) year of experience in purchasing / buying in a manufacturing environment required
• Two to five (2-5) years of experience in purchasing / buying in a manufacturing environment desired
• One to three (1-3) years managing inventory levels required
