mProbe Inc. is Hiring a Scientist, Mass Spectrometry Near Rockville, MD

We are seeking a Mass Spectrometry Scientist to join the Proteomics Group in mProbe (Rockville, MD). The incumbent will be an integral part of the Company’s expansion to discovery efforts focusing on innovative clinical assays for precision medicine in cancer. Major duties include but are not limited to establishing robust workflow of LC-MS-based proteomics for discovery pipeline, increasing company’s analytical capacity on global and targeted proteomics, maintenance of LC-MS platforms to the highest quality, and large-scale data analysis using PRM/SRM and DIA/DDA approaches. The successful candidate will be highly motivated to work within a science focused, collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment to achieve the company’s goal of providing solutions for precision medicine.

Essential Functions

· Develop and implement LC-MS workflows for discovery and targeted proteomics and define analytical strategies for large-scale data analysis. Perform characterization of clinical samples (tissue and serum/plasma) by molecular profiling and provide quantitative data. Responsible for hands-on instrumentation including Quadrupole-Orbitrap, Triple-Quadrupole, and nano-LC in GLP/CLIA settings.

· Optimize the analytical performance (sensitivity and selectivity) of LC-MS-based clinical assays by scientific and technological improvement. Evaluate new technologies and integrate them into the discovery pipeline to increase productivity and robustness.

· Support Project Teams to assist Pharma and Clinical Research Projects by conducting MS experiments, and by contributing to generation of study plan and study reports.

· Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (GLP, CLIA) by authoring SOPs and implementing the current SOP for maintenance of GLP and CLIA facility. Contribute to manuscript submission and to patent application.

Qualification and Knowledge/Skills Required

· PhD. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related field with 0-5 years post-doctoral experience.

· Strong fundamental knowledge of protein chemistry and understanding of biology of genomic alternations with proteomic phenotype.

· Solid LC-MS background and expertise in proteomics methodologies. Hands-on experience with Quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spectrometry, nano-LC fluidics, and data processing with various software. Experience with PRM/SRM and DDA/DIA.

· Experience with large-scale data analysis and bioinformatics. Problem solving skills based on understanding of raw data.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills. Passion for science and innovation.

· Strong and collaborative work ethic. Self-starter – individual needs to be persistent in achieving mProbe’s scientific and business objectives.
