MOUNTAIN RECREATION is Hiring a Gymnastics Coach (Full-Time; Year Round) Near Edwards, CO

Description

Responsible for providing quality instructional training / coaching to program participants. Must be able to demonstrate skills and communicate well with children and parents. Trains and assigns instructors, volunteers, coaches, and part-time staff. Administers paperwork and meets preparation work.

Salary: Full-Time; Year Round. Non-Exempt. $21.29 - $26.61/hr

Location: Edwards, Eagle County, Colorado

  • Retirement:
  • 401a Colorado Retirement Association Plan - Upon hire employees’ contribute 3.75% pre-taxed to their 401(a) with a match from the District. After five years of employment, employees’ match automatically increases to a pre-taxed 6% contribution with a match from the District.
  • 457b Retirement Plan – Full time year round employees are eligible to elect the 457b Retirement plan up to 10% with a $1 for $1 match from the district after one year of employment. Employees may contribute to the 457 plan within their first year without receiving the district’s match. Once the employee reaches one year of service, the district will begin matching. Employees may change their contribution at any time.

Supervision Required: Works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor – Gymnastics.

Work Environment Work schedule and number of hours varies. Work can be physically demanding. Work schedule is varied and may require evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours vary depending upon specific program needs. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, to talk and hear, to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, to provide gymnastics spotting for up to 175 pounds, climb or balance, to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, occasional bending or squatting. The incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Also required is frequent hearing and talking, in person and on the telephone. More than 90% of time may be spent indoors. The noise level is normal to loud in an active gymnastics environment.

Examples of Duties:

  • Supervises and leads gymnastics classes and programs of all levels with fun and excitement.
  • Provides on-site supervision of programs and classes to assist Supervisor.
  • Provides good public relations for the District by notifying class participants and instructors of class cancellations, program changes, added classes, processing refunds, receiving and replying to all correspondence.
  • Keep control of behavior of gymnasts at all times, and if necessary, communicate behavioral issues to supervisor.
  • Adhere and be on time to all scheduled practices.
  • Ensure safety by communicating and enforcing any gymnastics center rules, policies and guidelines at participants’ comprehension level. Communicate effectively to both children and their parents / guardians.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Must be able to meet the physical and emotional demands of the job including spotting, demonstration, proper setting of equipment, etc.
  • Must be able to use the correct spotting techniques to ensure the safety of all participants through level 9/Sapphire level.
  • Teach and follow the appropriate gymnastics lesson plan by using progressions and stations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment. Removing any hazardous obstacles and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment to supervisor.
  • Have the aptitude and attitude for coaching all ages and levels of gymnastics ability and give excellent coaching instructions.
  • Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns, needed repairs, or incidents that may need follow-up. Is courteous and gives sincere attention to members by answering questions.
  • Places and progresses students in recreational classes
  • Completes skill charts and attendance in a timely basis
  • Manages emergencies calmly and proficiently
  • Makes consistent progress toward obtaining credentials/certifications
  • Assists with set up and break down of equipment and facilities and cleans facility as assigned
  • Completes required records and documentation.
  • Responds to accidents and incidents according to procedures.
  • Attends meetings including Mountain Recreation All Staff meetings and Mountain Recreation Board and Community meetings as directed.
  • Responsible for participating in Forward Together. A diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative to ensure our entire community feels welcome in any Mountain Rec facility, program, or activity
  • Create programs and experiences for our diverse community by removing barriers and obstacles so everyone in our community can live a healthy and happy life.
  • Responsible to attend team competitions throughout the State and Region
  • Needs to be able to choreograph floor and beam routines.
  • Experience with running a meet is a plus.
  • Must be able to work split shifts, evenings and weekends.
  • Must have knowledge of the USA Gymnastics Xcel league.
  • Assists with staff scheduling, class attendance,
  • Needs to have knowledge about trampolines, parkour and ninja programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of gymnastics required. Strong oral communication skills are necessary and required. Ability to work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically. Strong customer service skills are required and necessary. The ability to handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and with diplomacy is expected.

Education/Experience:

  1. High school graduation or equivalency; AND
  2. Two (2) years experience in gymnastics programming which has included supervisory responsibilities; OR
  3. Any satisfactory combination of experience and training.
  4. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Certification:

  1. USA Gymnastics Certified required

Más del 90% del tiempo se puede pasar en ambientes internos. El nivel de ruido es de normal a alto en un entorno de gimnasia activa.

· Supervisar y dirigir clases y programas de gimnasia de todos los niveles con diversión y entusiasmo.

· Proporcionar supervisión en el lugar de los programas y clases para apoyar al Supervisor.

· Mantener el control del comportamiento de los(as) gimnastas en todo momento y, si es necesario, comunicar los problemas de comportamiento al supervisor.

· Garantizar la seguridad al comunicar y hacer cumplir las reglas, políticas y pautas del centro de gimnasia al nivel de comprensión de los participantes. Comunicarse de manera efectiva tanto con los niños como con sus padres/tutores.

· Ser capaz de cumplir con las demandas físicas y emocionales del trabajo, incluidas la localización, la demostración, la configuración adecuada del equipo, etc.

· Asistir a las reuniones, incluidas las reuniones de todo el personal de Mountain Recreation y las reuniones de la Junta y la comunidad de Mountain Recreation, según las indicaciones.

Conocimientos y habilidades requeridos

Es imprescindibles tener conocimientos de gimnasia. Fuertes habilidades de comunicación oral son necesarias y requeridas. Capacidad para trabajar con un grupo diverso de personas de manera efectiva y diplomática. Fuertes habilidades de servicio al cliente son requeridas y necesarias. Se espera la capacidad de manejar situaciones difíciles que involucren a los participantes con paciencia, buen juicio y diplomacia.

Educación/Experiencia:

  1. Graduación de escuela secundaria o equivalencia; Y
  2. Dos (2) años de experiencia en programación de gimnasia que incluya responsabilidades de supervisión; O
  3. Cualquier combinación satisfactoria de experiencia y capacitación.
  4. Preferentemente bilingüe.

Certificación:

1. Se requiere certificado de gimnasia de EE. UU.

2. Se requiere certificación de RCP/primeros auxilios dentro de los primeros 90 días de empleo
