Mount Sinai Health System is Hiring a Neuropsychological Assistant - Neurology (3013955) Near New York, NY

The Barbara and Maurice Deane Center for Wellness and Cognitive Health of Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a full-time neuropsychological technician to support patient evaluations in a growing division of neurology. The technician will report to the licensed neuropsychologists at the Center for Wellness and Cognitive Health. The position includes interaction with adult-aged patients, medical and support staff, testing patients on standardized cognitive measures, scoring, analyzing and preparing data for the purpose of diagnosing neurobehavioral disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist neuropsychologists with patient evaluations to include: • Administration of standardized neurocognitive and psychological measures
  • Scoring, analyzing and preparing data for reporting. Producing summary data in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Establishing rapport with patients to ensure appropriate and comfortable conditions for conducting neuropsychological tests. Managing patient behavior and controlling the testing environment to ensure optimal assessment validity and patient performance.
  • Making observations of the patient’s behavior and affect during the evaluation, recording them in a concise manner, and writing summaries of observations.
  • Assisting in abstracting relevant medical information from patients' charts
  • Maintaining test equipment, testing rooms and record forms in working condition and good supply. Performing periodic inventory and ordering new supplies/equipment/forms as necessary. Notifying the supervisor when equipment is in need of repair/replacement. Designing, updating, and producing new or replacement test forms
  • Interacting with administrative staff as needed to facilitate patient care.
  • Performing occasional support tasks such as are necessary in the day-to-day operation of the center service [e.g., assisting in CE related activities (seminar series, courses)], and other tasks as required
  • Participating in the teaching/training of medical fellows, neuropsychological practicum students, new psychometrists and other trainees.

Qualifications

Supervised experience administering cognitive assessment measures (i.e., WAIS/WMS/CVLT/ DKEFs) in a clinical or research setting

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $59895 - $89843 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
