Summary of Job

As an Operations Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization. You will be responsible for overseeing cost control systems, managing and interpreting cost audit and reports for top management. This role is also responsible for proper inventory valuation, leading budget and financial planning and analysis, leading finance tasks and guidance at all operational and manufacturing sites, as well as coordinating and optimizing various operational processes. Your role will involve collaboration with different departments to ensure financial goals are met and operational strategies are aligned with the overall objectives of the organization.

Provides cost accounting support and analysis while playing a key role in developing, maintaining, and analyzing material standard cost, purchase price variances and material usage variances. This role will partner with individuals across the organization to ensure the integrity and availability of standard cost for materials and goods both produced and purchased.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce costs and maximize profit.
  • Responsible for proper inventory costing and analysis of operational costs.
  • Perform return on investment analysis and other profitability models, providing clear guidance and decision making.
  • Lead team efforts supporting the development and maintain cost accounting system, documentation, and financial records.
  • Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports on audit findings.
  • Report to management about asset utilization and audit results and recommend changes in operations and financial activities.
  • Actively participate in M&A transactions.
  • Define and drive standard operating procedures for efficiency improvements through a financial lens.
  • Determine the costs and efficiency of company purchasing activities.
  • Review costs for all external inventory, labor, and material purchases.
  • Coordinate cost accounting procedures and activity across the enterprise to ensure standardization and consistency.
  • Perform General Ledger account analysis and reconciliation related to inventory and cost accounts.
  • Timeliness of reports.

  • General Ledger reconciliations.
  • Partner with VP of Accounting & Finance to ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations, and with the company's policies and procedures. Coordinate documentation and support for internal and external audits.
  • Special Projects as assigned by CFO.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (master’s degree may be preferred).
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in financial management and operations, cost accounting with a focus on manufacturing operations and strategic planning and analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. and Mexico Maquiladora Accounting
  • Professional accounting certification, including CMA, CGA, or CA
  • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
  • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
  • Experience developing and implementing financial controls.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, inventory valuation, and reporting standards.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, inventory controls and cost accounting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • ERP experience
  • Bilingual
  • Travel to Mexico

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).
