Description

Position Overview:

The Senior Purchasing & Warehouse Manager directs sourcing and contracting in support of the Company’s purchasing strategy. This position is responsible for the procurement, receiving, warehousing and expediting of all materials, supplies, equipment and services for the entire company under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. Also assumes responsibility for ensuring that the departments under his/her supervision are operating within the guidelines of Mount Airy Casino Resort’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

Qualifications


Essential Job Functions:

• Lead and implement products/services sourcing strategy for designated functional areas (i.e. Food and Beverage, Marketing, Hotel and Facilities).

• Develop processes and techniques for targeting sourcing efforts for most appropriate products/services to ensure shareholder value by performing analysis, baselines, make-buy, and total cost of ownership models.

• Review and assess product/service needs and ensure alignment of the product/service procurement programs to the strategic, business and product plans of the Company.

• Collect and analyze market intelligence about suppliers and products/services, and use such information to develop and/or improve sourcing solutions.

• Negotiate, implement and manage supplier agreements.

• Measure supplier performance and manage critical product/service/supplier issues.

• Continual monitoring and assessment of “total cost” implications of products/services.

• Establishes purchasing policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with the Company’s policies and needs.

• Searches for new suppliers of present and future goods/services for the company.

• P&L responsibility for Purchasing and Warehouse.

• Consults with all segments of management responsible to and makes recommendations for improving the effectiveness of policies and practices.

• Establish linkage between Purchasing, Receiving and Warehouse with the property Finance areas, specifically the Accounts Payable and Inventory Control departments to maximize efficiencies.

• Ensures that purchasing practices and dealings are in compliance with State Casino Regulations, as well as the monitoring and accountability of non-gaming activity as it relates to vendor payments.

• Create standards for the receipt and movement of assets and inventory.

• Optimizes warehouse operations through maximizing Days on Hand (DOH), Inventory Turns, and Supplier Efficiencies, Internal and External Fill Rates and Staffing efficiencies.

• Complete understanding of warehouse operations lead times, inventory, productivity, expense and consolidation.

• Effective utilization of the Stratton Warren system to drive compliance, reduce generic spend, maintaining of Item Master and Blanket Purchase Orders (BPO’s).

• Monitors and manages setups and changes in Stratton Warren to maintain proper approval levels.

• Basic troubleshooting and problem solving for Stratton Warren user issues.

• Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.

• Attend all necessary training and meetings.

• Assist in other projects, as directed

Essential Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  1. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  2. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of casino purchasing and/or industry management experience and at least three years personnel supervisory experience.
  4. Successful candidate must be an experienced, results oriented, hands-on professional.
  5. Must be able to evaluate statistical reports and other business reports.
  6. Must possess an understanding of procurement issues.
  7. Must demonstrate leadership, fairness, and sensibility to the customers and employees.
  8. Must possess ability to instill a sense of pride and personal responsibility in subordinate employees.

Language Skills and Reasoning Ability:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  2. Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
  3. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  4. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

  3. Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, noisy casino environment and effectively deal with guests, management and employees in all situations.

  1. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  2. Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  3. Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.
