Mott MacDonald is a multi-disciplined engineering and advisory consultancy, with a significant presence in transportation, infrastructure and water/wastewater in the Northeast. We are looking to bring on a Principal Project Manager to support our portfolio of work for our clients.

As a Principal Project Manager, you will be responsible for various leadership and project management duties on transportation, infrastructure and/or water/wastewater projects. Phases of projects for which management will be required include feasibility analyses; conceptual, environmental clearance, preliminary and detailed design; cost estimating; construction and contract management. Projects may include traditional Design-Bid-Build as well as Design-Build.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, and working with technical leads and management groups in the delivery of a range of transportation, infrastructure and/or water/wastewater projects.
  • Managing project staff and subconsultants to keep projects on budget and schedule and within agreed upon scope.
  • Developing and presenting deliverables toclientsas well as communicating status, updates, and reporting, possibly to a political board and/or sub-committees.
  • Participating with senior leadership in the establishment of short- and long-term plans for the portfolio of projects.
  • Establishment and execution of plans for account management and business development.
  • Through your project efforts and involvement in industry activities, developing and maintaining client relations.
  • Actively participating in and supporting internal and external development and training activities.
  • Working with other interfacing teamsin support of project work.
  • Performing Design Management or technical lead roles as needed on largeprojects or programs.
  • Managing, coordinating, and developing client proposals and interviews

Candidates are required to have at least 15 years of progressive experience in managing transportation, infrastructure and/or water/wasterwater projectsfrom concept through design, construction, and close-out. Candidatesare requiredto possess the following:

  • Minimum 15 years of project management experience
  • Licensed professional engineer in the Northeast
  • Education background in Civil Engineering
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Work experience in project planning and development
  • Ability to independently manage all aspects of a project
  • Ability to develop and control project scope
  • Ability to develop and maintain project budgets
  • Ability to develop and review project schedules
  • Skilled in reviewing and coordinating the preparation of construction documents
  • Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders
  • Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate construction activities with the various project stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges
  • Ability to set and manage project expectations
  • Must be knowledgeable in NEPA
  • Proven history of winning/delivering transportation design projects greater than $5M in revenue
