Motion Logistics is Hiring a CDLA Driver Near Smyrna, TN

Position Summary
Delivery Drivers assist the company in delivering our food product services from the distribution center to our clients via dedicated routes. Responsible for driving delivery trucks to ensure that recipients receive their delivery in a safe and timely manner, loading and unloading of the products and collecting payment when necessary. This position needs to provide outstanding professional and customer service when communicating and interacting not only with our team, but with our customers and clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, drivers, and other team members to make deliveries.
  • Must be able to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Assist with ad hoc duties such as dropping/ picking up trucks from Penske and/or other vendors.
  • Perform daily pre/post basic truck maintenance.
  • Over the Road/ Long-distance driving/ and local distance driving.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations. Must follow all traffic laws and DOT regulations.
  • Secure pallets and properly arrange and balance them within the truck.
  • Maintain a detailed elog of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations using our elog or manual log if the app is down.
  • Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected and/ reported before driving.
  • Loading and unloading cargo. Setting up merchandise as needed per customer.
  • Track shipments and deliveries.
  • Obtain client/customer signatures and/or payment when needed.
  • Forklift/Pallet Jack experience certified preferred.
  • Hours of operation vary. Must be available to work on weekends and overnight when scheduled and must be able to perform the essential job functions unaccompanied.
  • Cross-departmental collaboration to improve communication and business performance.
  • Comfortable, steel toe or composite closed-toe shoes are required, and protective safety footwear are required in select business units.
  • Must be able to meet predictable attendance and punctuality expectations and physical demands of the position complying with Ethnix Group’s policies and performance expectations.
Organizational Responsibilities:
Follows established policies and procedures by monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes related to area(s) of responsibility and reporting violations or infractions to appropriate individual(s).

Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Company, warehouse, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards by immediately reporting any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to appropriate individual(s).

Identifies areas for improvement and offers suggestions to improve the site's efficiency, profitability, and productivity.

Keeps abreast of current changes in technology, logistics tools, processes, and standards within the industry and area(s) of responsibility by attending internal and external training programs and by accessing other sources of information and applies knowledge and practices to area(s) of responsibility.


Work Hours (may vary by state or location):

Hours of operation vary by site and shift. Must be available to work on weekends and overnight when scheduled and must be able to perform the essential job functions unaccompanied.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:
  • Highschool diploma or GED.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a CDL-A driver.
Language Ability:
Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to comprehend and complete legal documents, and answer questions in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Math Ability:
Demonstrated mathematical skills necessary to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, decimals, and fractions, and calculate percentages.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Company, warehouse, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards by immediately reporting any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to appropriate individual(s).

Computer/ Technology Skills:
Demonstrated the ability to use electronic logbook, “elog” or any other related ELD logbook applications approved by the FMCSA. Knowledge of basic technology and delivery applications/ software. Proficiency and fluency in using the internet and navigating the internet and websites.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • A valid and unexpired CDL class A driver’s license at all times.
  • A valid/ unexpired medical certificate/card at all times.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:

Incumbents that work in the unconditioned warehouse environment temperature may vary in some parts of the warehouse (cooler/freezer), but also have frequent exposure to outside elements where temperature, weather, odors, and/or landscape may be unpleasant and/or hazardous. You’ll be working around moving machines – order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts. Depending on the weather, temperatures can be over 90°F in the truck yard or inside trailers.
Physical Demands:

Visual and hearing acuity, in accordance with federal regulations which mandate that truck drivers must hear a forced whisper at 5 feet, have at least 20/40 vision, a 70-degree field of vision, and the ability to distinguish the colors of traffic lights. Hand-eye coordination, since they must coordinate their hands, legs, and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time on the roads.

Drivers are required to pass a physical exam every two years.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, type, handle or feel objects, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, and squat. The employee is intermittently required to
sit. Incumbents must be able to physically access all exterior and interior parts of the warehouse and amenities

Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to fifty (50) pounds independently and one hundred and fifty (150) pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Routine, local travel may be required to attend training classes, conduct market research, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position.
