Morrissey Hospitality is Hiring a Merchandise Vendor - St Paul RiverCentre Near Saint Paul, MN

This position sells merchandise to guests of Saint Paul RiverCentre/Roy Wilkins Auditorium at designated events such as concerts, family shows, sporting events, and other public events. Merchandise may include but is not limited to various clothing items (t-shirts, sweatshirts, underwear, and hats), posters, recorded items, books, buttons, pins, stickers, coffee mugs, and tote bags. Additional responsibilities include setting up and breaking down merchandise stands, displaying merchandising items in an attractive fashion, maintaining accurate inventory and monetary counts, charging guests correctly for items purchased, making correct change, and controlling the sale of all assigned items in his/her designated selling location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of assigned location, including service counters and related storage areas.
  • Completes set up and break down duties to departmental standard for each event.
  • Greets guests in a timely and professional manner, makes suggestions regarding merchandise and answers any questions or concerns.
  • Convinces others to buy merchandise or goods or to otherwise change their minds or actions. Communicates merchandise products and selling prices to guests of all demographics.
  • Takes orders from guests and enters accurately into the point of sale or cash register system (when provided). Accurately totals merchandise sale and collects correct monies, making correct change when necessary. Maintains merchandise and cash security and control standards.
  • Attractively and professionally displays merchandise to maximize revenue.
  • Sells merchandise items to guests while walking the facility (including up and down stairwells, hallways, and open spaces) or at designated portable locations.
  • Orders and/or requisitions merchandise supplies from supervisor, warehouse, or tour merchandise person.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and/or display cases throughout the shift ensuring no interruption in guest service. Notifies manager/supervisor when inventory supplies are low. Organizes and completes side work and maintains sanitation standards.
  • Assists with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful and encouraging instruction.
  • Collects appropriate monies and makes correct change for merchandise items sold to guests including the use of credit card machines. Counts money and credit card receipts and makes accurate drop to cash room.
  • Totals bills and accepts payment with credit card machine or point of sale when available.
  • Totals receipts accurately, verifies sales and delivers receipts/cash to proper location at end of shift.
  • Attends required meetings and training sessions as assigned/scheduled.
  • Committed to working any facility and any event within the organization.
  • Complies 100% with the facilities recycling and sustainability policies and programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • One to three years related sales and/or retail experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a high-volume, high energy, retail environment.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of standing, walking, squatting, lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs. (inventory, etc.) for extended periods of time for event execution, to knowledgeably and professionally respond to client and guest inquiries, to write emails and other correspondence, and to work effectively in an office environment as well as a catering environment.
