Purpose:
The Selling Manager is responsible for appropriately representing the Morris Furniture Co., Inc. (and Ashley HomeStore) brand in a manner that positively represents the company and our fine furniture, and attracts customers. The Selling Manager serves as the sales leader on the floor assisting Sales Team Members with difficult selling situations including unhappy customers, addressing conflicts, or providing on-the-job training to new employees. Selling Managers are responsible for their personal and team sales.
General Description of Duties:

  • Follows the Showroom Guidelines to appropriately greet all customers and understand their reasons for coming to our showroom
  • Consistently opens or closes the showroom in accordance with the management scheduling policy
  • Typically serves as the Manager on Duty and directly manages and coaches employees to assist in closing sales
  • Approaches all sales in a consultative manner, listening to the customer in order to show them the right pieces and accessories to fit their needs
  • Consistently meets and/or exceeds established sales goals through customer retention, lead follow-up, and sale close rate
  • Personal sales of at least $42,500 in net written sales each month
  • Exceeds the minimum standards in all key performance metrics for personal and team performance
  • Routinely inspects sales floor to ensure cleanliness and organization; reviews tags for accuracy
  • Enters orders into designated ordering system accurately and on time
  • Leads the daily showroom sales meeting when necessary
  • Assists General Manager / Office Coordinator whenever necessary
  • Attends and completes all assigned company training and serves as the Product Ambassador for all showroom product training
  • Ensures understanding of all company promotions in order to accurately explain to customers and Sales Team Members
  • Participates in physical inventory of showroom when necessary
  • Assists with the recruiting and interviewing of new employees
  • Completes weekly and monthly coaching sessions of all sales team members, resulting in performance improvements
  • Manages the personal trade / book of business
  • Maintains the standards for his or her team members

Qualifications:

  • Work independently or as part of a collaborative sales team
  • Proven ability to develop successful customer relationships and close sales
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and motivate individuals and teams

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s Degree in Marketing or Communication preferred
  • 0-4 years experience in a retail sales or customer service environment
