 Position Overview:

The Governance, Risk, and Compliance Technology team is seeking a Java Web Application Architect (Vice President) to join the New York team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, architecture, and development of technical solutions to support GRC program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
> Design and lead the technical design phase for new web applications built on Java Spring technologies.
> Research new and upcoming technologies for future portfolio utilization.
> Guide developers and development leads to adhere to technical designs, while participating in the development process to ensure project success.
> Participate in the design and development of solutions that integrate with existing firm technologies, including both home built systems and the IBM OpenPages platform.
> Provide subject matter expertise to business partners where appropriate to guide them towards appropriate technical solutions, procedures, and designs.

> Strong communications and Architecture capabilities, Java, Spring, J2EE, JavaScript and Front-End Frameworks, Unix/Linux Scripting, Relational and Non-Relational Database Experience.

> Expert in MVC architecture patterns and Standards-Based Web Applications.

Required Skills:

> 8 years of experience in a technical role with hands on experience with required position skills. The ability to work independently and with minimal oversight is an essential trait in an ideal candidate.
> At least 5 years of experience architecting build-from-scratch technical solutions that utilize best of breed Web Technologies is required
> At least 5 years of hands-on web application development experience. Previous experience architecting solutions that integrate with vendor platforms is required.
> A successful candidate will exhibit excellent trouble-shooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and document the root cause of issues.
> Effective communication, collaboration, team, and presentation skills with a proven ability to operate effectively in a fast moving environment are essential.
Other Desired Skills:

> Angular, ExtJS, Bootstrap, Tomcat, WebSphere, RESTful WebServices, jQuery, DB2/SQL.

> Familiarity with Junit, XML, JSON, Vendor Integration, MarkLogic.

> Previous experience with building Angular applications would differentiate a top candidate.
> Previous experience architecting solutions that integrate with cloud platforms would differentiate a top candidate

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment.However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
