JOB TITLE:Controls and Automation Technician
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
ABOUT US:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controls and Automation Technician to join our team and ensure that our rides and attractions are effectively maintained and operated.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Controls and Automation Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of rides, attractions, and facilities by maintaining and troubleshooting control systems and automation processes. The individual will work closely with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime and optimize the guest experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perfom preventative maintenance on control systems and automation equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control system components such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other automation devices.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations to design, implement, and modify control systems and automation solutions to improve ride performance and stay current on technological advancements.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify and address potential issues before they cause ride downtime.
  • Assist in the installation, startup, and commissioning of new control systems on rides and attractions.
  • Document maintenance activities, including equipment repairs, parts usage, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Hands on experience with troubleshooting tools and techniques, such as electrical test equipment, software diagnostics, and system analysis.
  • Train and mentor other maintenance and operation personnel on control system operation and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in amusement park rides, attractions, and facilities, and implement repair solutions to maintain safety and minimize downtime.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical components such as motors, sensors, limit switches, relays, and control systems for ride operation and safety.
MANDATORY AND DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized controls and automation program or manufactures certification of training.
  • Proven experience in a controls and automation field preferably in the amusement, or manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with maintenance and repair of control systems, electric motors, sensors, and safety devices commonly used in amusement park rides.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that will include weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Background check and drug test will be conducted upon employment offer.
DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Associates level degree or certification in automation engineering or controls electronics.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking and scheduling maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety regulations related to amusement park operations.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment, such as forklifts or scissor lifts, for maintenance tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Controls and Automation Technician will primarily work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, as well as in indoor maintenance areas and workshops. The role may involve exposure to loud noises, heights, and moving machinery, and may require the use of personal protective equipment, as necessary. The position will also require the ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
